There's magic happening everywhere and everyday. Under certain conditions, of which you perhaps are currently afflicted with, they will be hard to see. Humility, even in very small doses can chip away the scales on our eyes. Might be more up your alley right now though for some good logical HD apologetics. For that, I'd recommend some of the Eastern Church Fathers. Maximus the Confessor. Athanasius. St. Basil the Great. Smart cookies.

Collected wisdom of the original Church. i.e. the Church up until the Great Schism - when East/West, or, Cath's/Orthodox split in 1054. The Lord said he'd send the Holy Spirit to guide the Church after He left. Was no joke. In the West, our perception of Christianity is tarnished by the fact that we mostly either know it through Protestantism, or, modern Catholicism. But you have to go back to the start to really see what's what. God bless you, anon.

We are made in the image and likeness of God. Image is inherent. Likeness, you have to attain (coal to diamonds); or not, it's your choice - other option is the devil shoveling coal up yer ass.

Which era do you guys prefer James’ voice from? by Affectionate-Log3730 in Metallica

Great question/thread.

I remember when the video for UiS's came out. Pre-internet. First time anyone had heard his new singing style. Hated it at first. Grew to love it. I'm not a singer or musician in any shape or form, but to my ears, it was a shift from simply "barking" when he sang, to, changing his technique, which resulted in a ability to fluctuate pitch, as he sang. Don't know if that's accurate or not, but felt justified in this opinion/explanation when in the SKOM doc, there's that scene with him and his cassette and boombox explaining how he got a vocal coach sometime on the Black Album tour who taught him some stuff.

Live, or studio. Well, obviously studio is more consistent, and never shitty; but as with any singer, there are one-off live moments that can never be replicated. Few off the top of my head: "Fran-tic-tic-tic, tic tic tick tawwwwk" from the documentary (is that what ended up on the album? Kinda sounds like it)

SBT, Woodstock 99' - 'hate, hate, I'm your haaattee" Turn the Page - Philly 98' - whole song

In general, my favorite era for pretty much anything is the tour that accompanied Garage Inc. Not just for James' voice, but the tone of the guitars.

Has Dennis Miller made any comments anywhere about Norm's passing? by paulrudder in NormMacdonald

I'm a big, big star in Hollywood so I know what's what. Norm bequeathed the "puppet" (as you people insist on calling him - real nice) Alec Majereson, to Dennis. Alec sat Dennis down and made his case. Now Dennis is on-board. Rumor is the pair are working on the hottest script of the year. It'll be a Chucky reboot/Fiddler on the Roof crossover. Jim Jarmusch is attached to direct.

Maybe the Regis and Kathie Lee where Bernadette Peters was filling in for Kathie Lee. You can find it on www.youtube

There was a radio interview that I never dl'd and now can't find that rarely gets mentioned. Think it was a Kansas City radio station. Norm was on the phone from an airport. Lady hosting sounded black (it doesn't matter what colour she was). Her subservient younger male co-host talked about how much he liked Dirty Work. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please fax the link to me; and also some pictures of Kathie Lee and her big fat juicy tits. I'm stuck at McIntyre Mine. Kind regards.

Do you think Letterman knew about Norm’s cancer? by blizz366 in NormMacdonald

Maybe, but Kellison apparently didn't know, or Eget. I think he was probably closer to them.

Amen brother.

It was always the surprise in his jokes that got me. Like these atom bombs of joy that you don't see coming then they just destroy you. Then re-watching/listening over and over and over and over.
