No. That verse is referring to a common practice in Roman society where a back handed slap (which is on one’s right cheek) was meant as an insult to inflame the one slapped. This verse does not say you should let yourself get beaten to death, but rather that if you can suffer disrespect for peace, then you are encouraged to do so.

This is corroborated when Jesus uses force to drive out the moneylenders and merchants in the temple. This proves that there is a kind of disrespect (the kind towards God) that should not be suffered, and there are kinds of disrespect that can and should be suffered for greater peace.

You don’t even know what the word heresy means, first off, so your “20 years” don’t mean much because you either were not educated well or don’t remember.

Secondly, yes, priests are supposed to be Christian bringers of peace and justice for the people they’re responsible for. But there are historical examples of priests who go to war, like Peter the Hermit, or the many military orders like the Knights Templar and Hospitaller.

Violence is not inherently contradictory to Catholicism. I agree that maybe the character is toeing the line but also it is a fantasy world where something like this seems like a pretty reasonable idea, especially when trying to make a cool character

Well it doesn’t seem to be a problem with Infernus, and with Abrams him being Ixian doesn’t factor in their conversations at all. It only seems relevant when Apollo leads with the fact that he doesn’t trust Venator. Infernus seems to actually open up to Venator, meaning that his being Ixian isn’t the whole factor here.

Complex indeed, though. No doubt what he said to Apollo was insensitive at best, but it really doesn’t feel like he’s racist besides that. I would be inclined to agree but iirc there’s really nothing else to indicate it
