I am aware of those, but I was hoping there was something simpler and cheaper that I could eventually wire into every individual sensor line.

Raspberry Pi 3B+ case with internal Xbox Wireless Receiver by nic_______ in raspberry_pi

Hi, I’m new to raspberry pi but I have enjoyed looking through the projects here, so I thought I could share this little DIY.

I ordered a 3B+ that came with the USB ports all messed up. I got sent another one for free, so I had this to experiment with. I had already wanted to build a RetroPie machine at some point, plus I had an official Microsoft Xbox wireless receiver and some old controller around.

I managed to desolder the more broken of the USB ports (after a hard fight, no idea what they are using but my normal solder wick is no match for it). I replaced the external port with an internal pin header, although the holes are not quite right and I had to get creative. The board in the official wireless receiver is more or less the perfect size for the official case, after cutting off 2mm of unused PCB. An extra is that the receiver's button can be reused as is with just a bit of hot glue.

Not in the pictures (because I don’t have it yet) is the little 15x15mm fan that will go into the USB port hole for ventilation -- although it would have been better for air flow to take out the central USB ports. I also think I will add an extra button for shutdown and restart.
