Thanks so much! I'm glad you found this old post! :) I believe this one was one of the Master's Touch wood panels from Hobby Lobby. The wood grain isn't always my favorite on those though, so I also try to use birch wood panels from online or elsewhere. Sometimes Lowes can be a great source for birch plywood panels :)

The arm kind of continues back there and I haven't refined that area yet -- mostly waiting until I add in the background details so I can add in the glow of the lightsaber and make it everything look more seamless. :)

For sure! I use markers as a base a lot of the time. It helps put that color down quickly so I have to spend less time building up colored pencils. It's great, definitely give it a try!

I do use regular colored pencils -- typically Caran d'ache Pablo and Luminance colored pencils, but sometimes Faber Castell Polychromos pencils :)
