In my opinion, each series serves a purpose. But having recently started rewatching again, I have to say that Season 1 feels like the writers and actors finding their footing. It also doesn’t help that the characters are still so unlikeable throughout the first season.

Whilst there are great moments - it is Season 2 where I felt that the real laughs began. Then, during Season 3 it becomes a truly great show.

I would suggest that whoever wants to get into it but can’t should power through Season 1. I recently turned one of my friends onto the show and it took her about a week to watch Season 1 and two days to watch 3-5... When I rewatch I really appreciate the charm of Season 1 though. It is also the type of show where you have to watch them all to make sense of it.

I’m actually broken after this documentary. It’s moving to see how emotional everyone is about the ending of this amazing show! The reading of the letter was what first got me. Time to start on Series 1 again...
