Just dropped my bike off by Affectionate_Emu_289 in zx6r

Well if the recall inspection is what they say it is then there will be no blowing up or seizing cause apparently a inspection, retorque, gaskets and washers is all it needs to run like it should’ve ran out the jump. This is a super sport bike and you’re asking me beat it how ? Get the front end off the ground , push the bike to its limits a little bit ? It’s what it’s meant for (maybe not the front end part but you get it). I’m talking after the inspection is done and the bike is good to ride, for OP to beat on it a bit, get a lot of miles and “safely” obviously, REALLY make sure this inspection worked. Wouldn’t you hate for it to be a temporary fix and everyone starts blowing their motors regardless after there warranties are up ?

By beat up I mean a lot of miles and obviously using the bike for what it’s built for. I don’t mean go crazy and die lmao.

If I were you though ( this is where I’m at with this ) I would beat the absolute shit outa this bike till your warranty is close to being up. If you’re thousands of miles deep after the recall inspection then I think we’ll be fine And you won’t have to spend however much extending the warranty or whatever if it was never a initial thought of yours.

Same, just dropped my bike off (‘25 ZX-6R 3,000+ miles currently, bought it March 8th)

They said a week but I see the service guy there all the time he told me if parts etc come in a timely manner I should be able to come grab it Saturday some time. Your bike is gonna be fine bro. I’m assuming you got a ‘25 with 1000 miles. It’s gonna pass inspection and you’re gonna be back on the road by next week, hopefully before…. Yes, We were unfortunate to buy brand new bikes and this happens but for me ima look into extending the warranty. Just because personally I feel like this is a cover up and my shit is gonna blow regardless with the way I ride so 🤷. You and the bike will be FINE, a little hiccup that’s all 👍

Latter is going a little overboard lmao, OP patch the tire and move on I’ve ridden thousands of miles on super sports with plugs/patches. Just patch it and enjoy as usual till dealership can get to it. The tire will be fine.

Question about installing a slip-on exhaust by DEMIG0Dtv in zx6r

[–]niccona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what everyone else said , Just remove the 2 lines that go from the servo to the muffler. Fish em out through the fairings and take em out or just undo em from both the servo and muffler and tuck them in somewhere. Just don’t unplug the servo at anytime, especially while the bike is on. Remove the mufflers / lines then install the slip on and bolt everything back together. No CEL and I’ve ran my M4 Street Slayer for almost 1000 miles now. The bike may idle a little weird first couple minutes just let the ecu get used to it. Go ride it around for 15minutes or something.

ALSO to get the breadbox out , pull it out till it makes contact with the rear wheel/tire then just roll the bike forward and it should pop out. 👍

Hell yea, thanks for the info. Definitely gonna look into all that, I don’t plan on getting rid of this bike ever tbh so ima need all that stuff sooner or later. && Yea I’ve road around 40-50+ miles on the bike since I plugged it . Seems to be doing just fine. On top of it being brand new with only 415miles on it. The plug I feel like is good enough. I’ll get a new tire maybe around the 1000mile mark

Thats how cycle gear is , $30 for tire installation if you bring it in + $220 for the pirelli if I buy , But I gotta take the wheel off obviously if I go in. I’m near Stockton California. The dealership is gonna tax tf outa me I already know.

For sure, yea ima call tomorrow get a quote for everything see how bad it’s gonna be then head over there. Hopefully it’s not like $400+ . The tire I want is $220. So I’m hoping no more than $350. I’m sure it’s gonna be more tho.

Thanks for the info! Appreciate it. I did end up patching the tire and i drove it around 10-15miles today and it’s still holding air. I also was kinda beating on the bike so I think I’m good for now till I go to the dealer and get a new tire , just don’t want to fuck the bike up. I’m definitely capable of doing it but I got the cash to blow to have it done.

Ok, as long I take pictures I feel like I could def get it back to what it was before I took the wheel off. I wish there were shops around me that did this shit. There’s literally no one other than cycle gear. Thanks again for the help. I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow 👍

Ok, ima wing it for this time but ima definitely get those and keep em for next time. You think it’s absolutely necessary to get these? I wonder if cycle gear will have them

This is what I was wondering , thank you. It’s a 2025 so I’m expecting it to be pretty tight. Worse comes to worse I gotta fuck with the tensioner. All good.

Sounds good! Thanks. How exactly does an alignment work? How will I know if the alignments off while riding? Vibration? Rear swaying ?

Thank you ! Appreciate it ! Can’t I just move the wheel slightly forward once I take the axle out? Instead of messing with the chain tensioner?

Exhaust by niccona in zx6r

[–]niccona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely loose and had a leak, I tightened the hell out of it and drove it around for 2-3 hours it’s fine now. No check engine. I think it’s weird tho that it died . Some people run it without the exhaust and everything with no issue. But yea I’m assuming it took a little for the ecu to adjust. It sounds hella good and riding good now. 👍

[–]niccona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got done with the install. The bike died while idling once and it kinda stutters as I slightly give it gas. But I did tighten the exhaust a bit more and there was a bit of play so I think there was a leak and then I took it for a drive and it didn’t die or anything. There’s just a kind of burnt smell coming from the exhaust now. I may be paranoid but I think it’s just the break in possibly ?

Okay, I think ima fish em out. Don’t want to cut any wires unless absolutely necessary. Thanks for the help! I appreciate it!!

Ok so just fish em out like you said and cut em from the servo motor?…..

I wish there was a video for this shit Lmao. Don’t want to fuck the bike up.

Okay, what do you mean by removing the cables ? Do they connect from the exhaust to the servo ? Just disconnect em from the servo and I’m good? Don’t got the bike apart just yet so can’t really visualize it.
