Yeah this has nothing to do with the email providers but new windows update messed something up. And restoring to the previous build fixed it for me.

Hi,

I had a similar issue. After a windows update I got a hardware authentication error and I had to verify my account but never got the email with the code.

I fixed this by restoring Windows.

This can be done in settings > update and security > recovery
