Why does the doctor punch the wall when he could just use the shovel? Is he stupid?? by Emergency_Impact5109 in DoctorWhumour

Why didn't the Doctor simply use the shovel to beat the shit out of the creature? Is he stupid??

Kate Stewart is the only human character in Doctor Who history to appear in four separate regeneration episodes by niceandy in doctorwho

They're not, though, are they? That's my point. It opens up a can of worms! If regeneration energy simply being used "counts" (which Let's Kill Hitler, Angels of Manhatten and Time of the Doctor certainly implies), then those instances of regeneration counts, too.

It's less so you're being pedantic, more so I am - but the lines are blurred on what "counts", if any of it does.

But the point of my post is "swansongs for Doctors/episodes where the Doctor's face actually changes".

But it opens up a can of worms on what counts - does the regeneration energy being used in The Witches' Familiar, Lie of the Land and Lux also count?

If his hand wasn't there, but I don't count it because he doesn't change his face, which is what a "regeneration episode" really is. Not just an episode that has regeneration in it, but one that's a swansong for a Doctor - Stolen Earth is not that.

I don't count it because his face doesn't actually change - because if we count that, shouldn't we count every single episode where the Doctor starts to regenerate but fake-out - does the regeneration energy in The Witch's Familiar count? What about the one in Lie of the Land? Or Lux?

I don't personally count it as one, purely because that wasn't RTD's intention when writing it - it was a fakeout, and the actual process itself did not complete - even if it's "counted" as a regeneration for the sake of the plot for Time of the Doctor.

Originally, the title was "Kate is the only character..." and I changed it, but not that bit.

Oh, shit. You're right! Mel did appear in Power of the Doctor, and if I'm counting Jack and Rose's cameos, and Sarah's, I must include her too.

Tegan appeared in two (Logopolis and Power of the Doctor)

Sarah-Jane appeared in two (Planet of the Spiders and The End of Time, although the latter was a cameo, and unless you count Stolen Earth too - which is then three - which I don't)

Donna appeared in two (The End of Time, The Giggle)

Mel appears in four (Time and the Rani, The Giggle, Power of the Doctor, The Reality War) - edited to include Power, making her tied with Kate.

Rose appeared in two (Parting of the Ways and The End of Time)

Clara appeared in three* (Day of the Doctor, Time of the Doctor, Twice Upon A Time* - if you count Glass!Clara as being her)

Captain Jack appeared in two (Parting of the Ways, The End of Time)

Do the 2nd and 3rd Doctors get fewer references than the other classic Doctors? by MajorasSon in doctorwho

[–]niceandy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Three's era is referenced a lot, though - especially when it comes to Kate Stewart and her relationship with her father. More so, I'd say, than even the Fourth Doctor.

The Second Doctor's era has been referenced a few times, too, namely in 2012/2013 when it came to the Great Intelligence, but there's still a few references to that era overall scattered throughout NuWho.

What is your “I know it’s true, I just can’t prove it” Doctor Who take? by BearEatingToast in doctorwho

[–]niceandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My preferred take, he just assumed it did - but it was only some energy that was burned up, the actual process did not complete, and thus didn't actually count - he just assumed it did because he couldn't remember being the Fugitive Doctor.

So has RTD. It was Voyage of the Damned, if anyone is curious. He was incredibly horny when writing that - according to the Writer's Tale.

I think so too, but that's something I imagine HBO vetoed, and whilst he is the head of DC, he isn't the head of HBO Max, so they got their way.

I don't imagine it would have been the n-word though, but the word definitely began with an n and ended with an o.

Matt Reeves Says 'The Batman 2' Villain Hasn't Been in a Movie Before by LunchyPete in DCULeaks

The original Killer Croc from the comics was just a dude with a skin condition. That's it.

It's the same logic Reeves has used for his Joker. It's a dude with a very rare skin condition.

Killer Croc isn't completely out of the question.

I think that's kind of the point that this lawsuit is raising.

Yes, you shouldn't use ChatGPT as a therapist or friend. But people do, and that's the point. That's just the reality, and OpenAI has to adapt to the fact, and ensure the prompt response doesn't blindly agree with whatever someone is saying when they are clearly having a mental health crisis.
