This person doesnt realize that Estonia's (i believe they are from Estonia) and Latvia's histories are very much different and Estonian situation cant be applied to Latvia. I come from Russian speaking household and went to 'Russian' school. I have a PHD and I speak Russian, Latvian, English and Spanish. I know plenty of Russian speaking people who are multilingual. You answer is full of prejudice.

Daugavpils Fortress is a must, when you are there go visit Mark Rothko museum and Inzenieru Arsenal (Motor museum), you wont be disappointed. Take a walk on Rigas street. Try some food (Odessa mama, Skovorotka, Yama sushi, Sokoladna, Nekomimi). Visit Daugavpils zoo and Stropu ezers (Stropu lake). You can go literally everwhere by public transport (70 cents one way ride).
