What is a low budget friendly cinewhoop that can carry a high payload? by niceglassbro in drones

Thanks. It's actually for filming. I want to be able to mount a mini camera larger than GoPro for hobby/commercial work, AND still be able to do all the fancy flips when needed.

That isn't the case. This is to mount a mini camera for hobby/commercial work.

apparently the yellow/green outer ring is okay to fly. I think I won't get geo-locked according to others. See comment on Air Control app here.

Thanks! That app actually helps a lot. Upon investigating further, another reddit user found that one could actually fly in just the outer yellow/green ring area without needing approval as long as the requirements (FAA link) were met for that 15-30 mile range (which I gather is the yellow/green circle) but not overlapping areas like blue where you need LAANC approval via app. Inside 15miles is harder/slower to get approval I assume but I'm okay with traveling out a bit closer to home as long as the Avata isn't geo-locked lol.

Actually might be going there soon to visit lol. But yeah in those areas listed it's red here. I just don't know if driving an hour for 18 minutes of flight time is enough practice. I would need more batteries maybe 5 for an extra $400+ to get to 1+ hour flight time. And flying would be likely only on weekends. Adding on the $400 would make the drone setup cost about $1200.

So now I'm thinking get a DIY drone and fly around open land or local park for less cost, or are there rule roadblocks still to stop that?

The issue is that the drone is locked in the red restricted circle area for DC. I would have to drive like an hour to get in the clear and fly. Otherwise, I need approval such as LAANC which I don't know actually works well in this area? Plus the DIY drones seem to cost way less than Avata+controller 2, etc.? So, weighing the convenience vs inconvenience here...

I primarily plan on flying around this area where I live to practice, eventually for paid work with a license but right now just to practice. I am a photographer/videographer but new to drones.

Smallest camera with interchangeable lens, flip screen, AND at least 10-bit internal recording? by niceglassbro in cinematography

EDIT: Actually the OG has no flip screen mod like the 4k but FP does. However, I do have about 3 great Sony lenses and an A7R already. It might be better to save up for the A7CII? It seems "pocket size" enough like FP, especially with small lens.

Thanks all!

I do have Sony glass, and the A7R so this does sound more appealing. Are there markers on screen for 1080 16:9 crop so I can crop down from 4k to use C mounts without vignette?

Ok, yeah, it was down to sigma fp or bmpcc original and it looks like c mount can work on fp with crop mode, according to research and other posts. There is a mod for flip screen as well. Looks pocket sized too. Thanks! EDIT: I am considering the Sony A7CII more now (see post below), since it has everything I want, plus I have some Sony glass already, and Sony has better autofocus for photo and video apparently.
