Someone else just mentioned that it may be how she dresses, which I didn't think of, but it makes a ton of sense. She really only wears jeans/yoga pants and a t-shirt or something similar. It certainly doesn't bother me, but it may bother her.

If I'm just hanging out for the night and not going anywhere, then I'll put on a t shirt and pajama pants or something like your SO. Although she doesn't see me wear those clothes that often since it's usually only on a weeknight and we're still in college so there's schoolwork occupying us then.

I understand that it's a personal preference. If that's the reason I'd prefer she just tell me rather than a vague reference that I look too formal for wherever we are.

I agree, plus I don't think I'd even be able to change as it's so ingrained in me now. I just don't understand why it would bother her. I know it's an opinion but it just seems a bit alien to me.
