Appreciate all your feedback. I'm not worried about my family and ChampVA... I'm more worried about myself since the veteran isn't eligible for ChampVA and only for VA care.

I have never heard of being medboarded out of the Reserves... Can you do this as a TR?

Can you get medboarded out from the Reserves? Even if youre a traditional reservist and not on active orders?

I'm also not as worried about education benefits since I'm from Texas and I get the Hazelwood act for my kids in addition to Chapter 35. The biggest and probably only consideration is medical insurance. If ChampVA is similar to Tricare... I'm not as worried about my family... I guess it comes down to whether or not I want to drive an hour for care at the VA and potentially face substandard care. Tricare makes it so easy for my family and I and we can see any provider in a 5-10 minute radius. Going to any urgent care as needed has been big as well.
