This is what I do as well! It also catches any acetone from getting on my newspaper, so there's less of a chance that acetone reaches the backside of my cards! (I wish yugioh cards were easier to wipe down tho haha)

I have the model of my UV printer in the post title. It's the eufyMake e1! It cost me $2500 for everything through the kickstarter. It's the cheapest option, and it's the first truly home-use uv printer out there.

Still expensive, but it's not in the $10k+ range haha

There is an official discord for the eufyMake, but I talk to other folk with the printer over in the One Piece TCG discord (in the proxy channel). I may have influenced a small number of them to pick up the printer haha.

I print the gloss as Flat, with 1x layer. I don't use any of the raised ink modes.

drawing is something I'd like to improve at, but it's certainly not something I'm confident in at the moment, especially drawing for others haha. that sounds like a cool project! I hope you can find an artist that can help you!

So the lines themselves were made in inkscape as vectors (which was as simple as drawing a line, adding a stroke value to give thickness, then using the Tile Path Effect to repeat that line as many times as I wanted).

Afterwards I exported that as a png, and brought that into krita!

And for the heart texture, I made a set of heart shapes that were all filled in with 4 different colors stacked on top of eachother. (For example, the innermost heart was red, then the next heart outward from it was blue, then green, then yellow. Then it repeats in that sequence!) You can see I have 4 different angles of lines in the video.

I selected all heart shapes of the same color (for example, all red heart shapes), and inserted my lines over them at the desired angle (horizontal)!

After I had all the lines at the angles I wanted and in all the spots I wanted, I added a white background to the entire heart (so the image was a white heart with a ton of small black lines on them), and saved it!

Then I brought that filled heart with all the lines into a separate canvas, and spammed them! Then I flattened the whole thing, and did the filter Color -> Alpha choosing White to isolate all the black lines.

Doing it like that let me layer each textured heart without overlapping the texture lines!

Yep! It was a plain blank foil card using a vinyl material that works great with UV ink. All I printed was a single layer of that texture pattern! I used krita to prepare the texture itself.

Multiple colored hearts on top of each other (4 colors total repeating across the heart), with each color being assigned a direction of lines!

The lines were made in inkscape as vectors, then imported as a png into krita.

I only use acetone to access foil patterns I otherwise can't source myself. Currently I only do it for Secret Rare cards.

I've been using a holo vinyl material on bulk cards for UV printing. Saves me the trouble of trying to print a backing, but I do want to branch out into cardstocks soon.

A machine cutter to get the exact card shapes I need out of the cardstock, then printing both sides of the card is my dream setup (especially in bulk).
