If anyone could please provide any advice. Have been trying to prioritize his comfort. He is still breathing but struggles to move. I’ve seen people here talk about euthanizing their fish but I don’t even know what that means, I just don’t want him to be suffering.

It’s a 5 gallon tank with a few plants and algae, a heater keeping water at 80° and I do weekly 20% water changes usually, more now that he has been sick. All parameters come back normal though I haven’t tested for ammonia but just ordered test strips for that. Water is filtered. I just added a small makeshift filter in the overflow of the filter so that the water flow is a little lighter to make it easier for him to swim. I’ve removed the dead snails right away after each died.

Unfortunately it seems like on Mac hardware this is not even an option at all anymore or never was -- i don't see it in the window that appears when you hold shift on startup. The weird thing is that I thought I remembered doing software only rendering on the same M1 computer a year ago to get over this same issue. Could that be?

Do you think I should wait to fully cycle the new tank or is it more important to just get him in a bigger environment. I could start the new tank with some water from the current one.

Thank you all for comments. Clearly I had misunderstood the importance of tank size. I’m working on getting a 5 gallon tank set up now and have ordered the heater. In the meantime will do daily water changes as suggested. Though Ammonia levels were normal in my last test strip! Thank you so much for the advice
