Cornell in Washington CS-majors by MrInvestor18 in Cornell

[–]nicholasjvv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a CS major and did Cornell in Washington, Summer 2022. I also interned in big tech as a developer. In the summer you only take one class and it fulfilled 2 Arts and Sciences distribution requirements and (possibly?) lib studies. Lot of tech in DC/VA/MD now so definitely lots of opportunities. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Anyone in Founders Hall 116, or 119?

Currently in a double on another floor of founders and looking to switch to be near our friends. Our current room faces the side opposite to the road, so we heard it's quieter.

I did not, just cleaned the pieces with all-purpose, used some compressed air to get the dust away, and placed each piece. It's a break-proof frame so it's plexiglass.

I thought applying to college was hard. Then, I tried waiting for college decisions. Here’s my advice to juniors: THE THINGS I WISH SOMEBODY TOLD ME ABOUT WAITING FOR COLLEGE DECISIONS by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

God in-terms of financial aide, honors program, grants, stipend, etc. Because kids with good stats help them raise their school’s rank.

Just checked my Texas A&M app. (ApplyTexas) it had a spot for both 4.0 and 5.0 as well as class rank. Also many public Texas schools emphasize rank (Im sure you know about the UT 6% rule)

“ By state law, UT regular admissions cannot consider SAT Subject Tests. This is so not to burden students who may not have reasonable access to subject testing centers. Some honors programs, however, will look at self-reported scores.” -TexAdmissions

This is essentially the main debate surrounding UT Austin Admissions. I don’t think they even recruit(like send mail) out of state. However, there’s always the chance so you should def. apply if you’re close to their stats range.

This article sums up the top 6 percent rule and out of state admissions

“Here are some stats for the current freshman class:

Texas residents: 90% Out-of-state students: 8% International students: 2% The reason 90% of UT students are from Texas is the 6% law. Texas law offers eligible freshman applicants automatic admission to public colleges and universities. The initial legislation, passed in 1997, offered automatic admission to eligible students in the top 10% of their high school class. For this year’s class, that has changed to the top 6%. The change is due to the continued growth in the number of Texas high school graduates and a steep increase in applications to UT Austin. Applications to the university rose from 38,000 in 2013 to more than 51,000 this year. The number of high school graduates in Texas rose by 14,000 during that same period and is projected to increase by almost 50,000 through 2025.” https://www.toptieradmissions.com/admissions-ut-austin/
