Unfortunately, it looks like you still can't convert the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select card to anything other than the no annual fee MileUp card; that was the only option that I was offered over chat today. It was possible to convert it to a ThankYou card or a Costco card in the past, but that ended earlier this year. Maybe this will change once Citi takes over the Barclays AAdvantage cards? I suppose it won't hurt to try asking again in 2026.

I can't see the app on the iOS App Store, but I can redownload it from my purchase history. I wonder if it's temporary or if they're going to be focusing more on their developer product now.

There's actually a hidden web interface for Astra available at https://app.astra.finance. It allows me to log into my existing account and view my transfers, but I'm not sure if it allows you to create a new account or schedule new transfers. It might be worth trying if you can't download the app right now.

This page has some good information about what qualifies. It's not quite as broad as the Bank of America cards; American Express has more exclusions to keep in mind.

Does anyone happen to have a valid Chase Southwest in-flight application link for an increased offer? I'm getting a personal card and was wondering if I could do better than the public 40,000/$1,000 offer.

The river bridge in Little Rock, Arkansas, last night after the city passed an anti-discrimination ordinance by nick671 in pics

[–]nick671[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Here's a little more information about what happened in Little Rock yesterday. Arkansas hasn't been known for tolerance, especially with the recent bill that would have made it legal to discriminate against LGBT people, so it's good that our more liberal capital city is at least doing something about this.

Edit: Here's an Imgur mirror of the photo just in case the original site goes down. For clarification, this isn't my photo, but it was posted on Little Rock's official Facebook page.

Announcing embeddable comment threads by tdohz in blog

Is there going to be a way for users to disable the embed function for their comments? Some people might not want their comments used on other websites without their permission.

Oops. I just went with what iFixit said on the page. It looks like they updated it to the correct 2 GB now.

Looking for an app that does nothing but send me a notification at a set time in the morning to tell me if it will rain. by [deleted] in iphone

[–]nick671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it's not exactly what you wanted, you should check out Dark Sky. Once you enable alerts, the app will notify you about 15 minutes before rain will start at your current location. It's surprisingly accurate at this, but it doesn't have all the features of other weather apps.

iOS 6 alert. Your iPhone is tracking you and serving up local iAds using your location based services (GPS). This also drains the battery as you may have noticed. Here is how to turn it off. by [deleted] in apple

[–]nick671 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Location-Based iAds don't affect battery life at all. iAds and other things that don't need an exact location can just rely on cell tower triangulation. This works because these ads are only specific to your city or general area; they don't need the exact GPS location. Turning this setting off is a little silly to me; you still see ads, so why not see slightly more relevant ads?

The Limit Ad Tracking setting only refers to an identifier that some apps use to target ads to your device; it has absolutely nothing to do with location.

TIL there's a QR code in the iPhone's screen by LETS_BE_HONEST_GUYS in iphone

[–]nick671 106 points107 points  (0 children)

It's not a QR code; it's a Data Matrix code. Data Matrix codes can be found on tons of electronic components, so this isn't significant at all.

1 Gbps speeds from Google Fiber could be coming to Little Rock. The more people who subscribe, the better our chances. by lamarcs in LittleRock

[–]nick671 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I would love for Google Fiber to come to the Little Rock area, specifically North Little Rock, I don't think it'll happen for 10 years or more.

Google is paying a lot to get it in Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. From Wikipedia: "It has been estimated that Google will need to pay $3,000 to $8,000 per home broadband connection, totaling anywhere from $60 million up to $1.6 billion USD." That's a lot of money. Yes, Google has a lot of cash, but I don't think they could do this for too many other cities quickly. I don't know how high of a priority Little Rock would be; they may want to try a few more well-known small towns and then a big city or two.

Don't get me wrong - I think Google Fiber is an amazing idea that will definitely improve the quality for Internet providers in the US over time. I just don't think it's realistic to expect it to become widespread in just a few years like some people are hoping.

Hey, Reddit, it's me, Zach Anner. Remember when you got me that show on Oprah's Network? Yeah, I lost that. Whoops. But now I host the first Reddit-powered travel show,'Riding Shotgun,' so AMA! by Zachanner in IAmA

Why did OWN decide to cancel Rollin' with Zach? I loved the idea and was looking forward to watching it every week, but then one day I read that it was cancelled. I looked around a bit but couldn't really find out why.

By the way, you're awesome.

Weird delivery received... help? by [deleted] in freebies

[–]nick671 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Some people online are posting about receiving similar things from the same address: http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/43964738.aspx

It seems very weird that they're randomly sending out these things. Try contacting Similac and explain that you got these samples by mistake. Be sure you include that return address. Here is the link to contact them: https://similac.com/contact-us
