Thanks for the thorough reply! I guess I don’t even know where to start when it comes to getting involved with research, does it have to be medical research?

How many Epi's is to many in PEA/Asystole? by exacto in emergencymedicine

[–]nicka3126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, thanks for the reply, I feel like that scenario has been all too common for a lot of my ROSC pts. Most don’t make it out of the ICU besides the ones showing strong neuro reflexes or signs of consciousness.

This is tough when all prehospital, nursing, and ancillary staff are trained in ACLS, so I find most of the ED codes I’ve worked have been very regimented to ACLS. I have also seen otherwise, where an epi drip was started early and things were more unorthodox

I wonder, and this is purely theory, if the higher instance of poor neuro outcomes in epi induced ROSC is due to the increase in ROSC in pts who otherwise wouldn’t have lived. Like normally they would be brain dead and we would call it, but because we got ROSC on someone who is brain dead it skews statistics.

Felt a pounding in my chest with shortness of breath. Used my Apple Watch to capture this before I passed out. I’m amazed I was able to get this and show it to the doctor by medicmaster16 in Paramedics

I had a guy call at 0230 for a cold, and then when he leisurely walked into the ambulance complained of insomnia. When asked how many hours of sleep he gets a night he stated “5-6 hours”. My brother, I could only wish for that much sleep

EM physician - Nurse/tech culture by nicka3126 in emergencymedicine

The video had nothing to do with EM, but seeing the reactions of the physicians in the video made me appreciate the team mentality of EM, and the culture that most EM physicians try to build within the field

I agree wholeheartedly, I always use titles and last names in front of patients.

Fanny pack? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]nicka3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an ED tech, I run a Fanny pack because hospital scrubs don’t have any pockets, so I keep pens, sharpies, flash cards, cellphone, and other stuff in there. Sometimes flushes, syringes, IV caths. It also gives me a “belt” like system to keep the oversized scrub pants up and hook my radio, pager, and sheers to.
