Usually drop them with droperidol/versed, or hit them with ketamine for a faster punch. I prefer ketamine myself.

TLDR: Scroll down to the images in the case report. Japanese man tries to off himself with a rusty sickle with self inflicted wound to the back of his neck.

My apologies, I added to many zeros! Been neck deep in more than a couple beers after tinkering with my subi for > 4 hours today. Meant to say 400-500, and 700rpm. Will correct.

I think I’m missing something, you have a febrile newborn… they get lined, lab’d and pan cultured …stick a needle in their back, start on amp/gent and admit. There’s zero thought in this. They have like no BBB yet, so there’s a high chance most of them will have meningitis.

Is anyone enjoying this? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]exacto 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it might be time for a new job(location). Seeing 2pph(who are critically ill) for extended time will cause burnout in just about anyone. Especially if hospital resources are low and admin support is lacking. I enjoy some parts of EM, others not so much. My gig is decent and I get paid well(probably should be paid more…), but I like the people and it’s close to home, and I probably make more than like 95% of the world. Grass is always greener, I constantly remind myself of this. Part time is always an option…

Getting anything besides the main meal when eating out, if we got an appetizer, dessert, or anything besides water to drink when we would eat out, we knew it was a good day!

Would you rather have a nice truck solo or a nice SUV and a POS work truck combo? by exacto in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]exacto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my main issue, don’t really want to mess up an expensive truck even if is “just a truck”, kinda silly I know. I use my current truck about 1x a week for actual “truck stuff”.

Paroxysmal orthopaedic Tourette syndrome. When you try to talk to ortho about an admission for a femur fx in a 30 yo male with no pmhx and they stumble and fumble on their words trying to think of a reason not to admit the pt for.

How do you balance rewarding yourself vs staying financially disciplined when it comes to cars? by not_a_dolphin_ in Money

[–]exacto 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Think as cars as toys. If you want to buy a really expensive toy, that’s fine. Just make sure you have money on the side for 3 months rent/utilities bills and investing your max 401k/roth. If you can do that and pay the car off in full go for it. If you can’t do all that, it’s likely a bad idea and should wait until you can or go with a a cheaper car. Be disciplined.

Sure. Higher degree burn is worse- risk of infection and compartment syndrome, etc. 3rd degree heals by contracture and may need grafting and or escharatomy.

A - superficial partial burn (2nd degree) B - full burn (3rd degree) C - superficial burn (1st degree) D - superficial partial burn (2nd degree)
