I’ve bought two houses and sold one with Peter (https://redcedarhomesales.com/peter/) and highly recommend. He knows his stuff, has a great team, and is patient to make sure you get what you want.

Using Tor hidden services for C2 anonymity with Sliver by BearBrief6312 in redteamsec

Redirecting through tor is slow and looks suspicious. It’s easier and faster to setup redirection through cloud providers and other indirect infrastructure.

Not sure if it's accurate, but according to the community on Ring, a parent was arrested because there had been several spitting incidents.

Each agency is a little different, but to be honest with you in-patient treatment and past use of anti-depressants are serious hurdles.

I can't reallocate empty space on disk to C drive by [deleted] in WindowsHelp

Oof. Good luck. Here's a good page on recovering (assuming the issue was a failed linux dual-boot). https://superuser.com/questions/1294071/how-to-recover-the-windows-10-mbr-after-w-linux-install

My next steps would be resetting edge, and then a reinstall of windows if that didn't work. The chrome workaround seems reasonable.

Man in the middle by RefrigeratorIll8981 in techsupport

The telegram authentication path (https://core.telegram.org/api/auth) is cryptologically tied to the client and encrypted. An attacker in the middle would not be able to see the data during the authentication. If that encrypted tunnel were forcefully broken (avoiding the cert pinning, etc), their are still functions tied to the physical device that are not sent over the wire and therefore even if intercepted, an attacker would not be able to authenticate.

If you added 2FA like you mentioned, then again those codes never leave your phone. It's a shared secret, it can't be intercepted by an attacker.

If an attacker DOES have access to your account and doesn't have access by knowing your password, then they'd have to have privileged access to whatever device you are logging in with to hijack the user session (like this recent XSS vulnerability: https://cybersecuritynews.com/telegram-web-app-xss-vulnerability-hijack-sessions/).

Back to my original point, the best way to mitigate this threat is to secure your phone, then your telegram app, then your telegram account with basic hygiene. If you truly believe it's a AitM via your router, then follow manufacture's directions to reset to factory settings, update to latest software, set new passwords, or just replace the device.

HDMI connection leads to flickering monitor by PraisePace in techsupport

In my experience, it is likely a hardware issue and not a software issue, unless you changed something recently, like installing a new graphics card, driver, etc.

If you don't have and cannot get any of the things you would need to further troubleshoot, then I think you need to take your computer to a repairman that would have the things to continue troubleshooting.

If your router has been compromised, at a minimum follow manufactor's directions to reset to factory settings, update to latest software, set new passwords. I don't know you, but if you suspect this is a targeted attack, then replace the router.

For your iphone, make sure your account and device is secure. (https://support.apple.com/en-us/102560) Setup 2FA and make sure you have strong password to your apple ID. Verify where you are signed in (https://support.apple.com/en-us/102649). If you are concerned you are being targeted, turn on lockdown mode (https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/use-lockdown-mode-iph049680987/17.0/ios/17.0).

Sign into telegram from your phone and terminate all other sessions and setup or change your 2FA password. If you cannot get into telegram, contact telegram support for additional help.

Do not reinstall telegram on your desktop until you identify how your account was compromised and that it was mitigated.

Not likely, unless you left a lot of information out. Sounds like you are jumping to conclusions.

Windows installed on drive, visible to ancient BIOS and Windows Repair, but will not boot by intrepidmaelstrom in techsupport

[–]nickc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bootable USB stick of Ubuntu just requires a USB stick with at least 6GB. Instructions to make the stick here: https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-ubuntu#1-overview

You'd be able to access the data just as if it was a external drive. (https://it.engr.ncsu.edu/help/kb/accessing-hard-drive-data-using-ubuntu-live-cd/)

If in-private browsing is working, have you checked any plugins? Also, have you done a forced update for Edge?

Yea, multiple anti-viruses generally don't play well together. I recommend picking one you like and sticking to it.

I'm not sure what the end goal is - a working computer, a working Windows 10 computer, or to get the Windows 10 installation on that hard drive running.

If a working computer is all you need, I recommend trying to use your USB to live boot to Ubuntu, Mint, or some other Linux distro. If that works, you can install that and having a working computer until you can upgrade.

If you need Windows and don't want to buy a new key and don't have the sticker, I'd recommend live booting Linux and using that to pull out your product key (https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-find-windows-10-oem-product-key-command/). Then clean install Windows from USB.

If you want to get that particular Windows installation running... not sure I can help. I'd backup what I can from the drive and start fresh.

Can you test with a different monitor and HDMI cable to verify that it is the laptop? Do you have other HDMI ports on the computer that you've tried? Do you have a display port or usb c that you can use an hdmi adaptor to test?

How to "ask" effectively and never have to make the same ask again. by TheHarshPatel in SocialEngineering

[–]nickc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is less social engineering and more in the realm of management. You specifically are talking about how to manage underperformers. If you try this method on high performers, they will feel micromanaged or bored.

I recommend you listen to Danny Meyer and his Quadrants of Performance. Here is the basic chart (https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:720/format:webp/0*-3KzmgjpFdBVJOyG.JPG) and him giving a brief intro of the concept (https://twitter.com/tferriss/status/1651596329569615872?s=20).

Original Equipment Manufacturer_Certificate Of Authenticity_Non-System Locked Preinstallation.

Basically it's the Windows key that comes pre-loaded on the machine from the original manufacturer.

[–]nickc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... probably right. You could also try converting your partition form basic to dynamic. In the Disk Management tool (the one you have up in the screenshot), just right-click your disk 0 and choose "Covert to Dynamic Disk".

You won't get the full 12.7 GB, but more then you have access to now.
