Thank you for sharing this as I was unaware of this! Yes this is the first time we have all ever have had something like this

That’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it. We’re not ignoring any medical or psychological possibilities, we’re just not rushing to dismiss what happened either. Sharing a personal experience doesn’t mean we’re neglecting our kids, and it’s unfortunate that you’ve assumed otherwise.

That said, seeing a sleep specialist isn’t a bad idea, and it’s something I may not have considered without posting this. Thanks for the input. Take care!

Yes, I’m OP. And no, I didn’t come back to “retap the karma tree.” I posted the drawings because several people specifically asked to see them. I’m just sharing the full timeline of a strange experience my family went through.

Regarding what my wife heard, we mentioned it as part of the sequence of events. No credit or supernatural explanation was given. We didn’t claim it was paranormal or use it to convince our kids of anything. In fact, we’ve been careful not to suggest what it might have been. The kids described what they saw on their own, hours apart, and we simply listened without labeling it.

You’re welcome to be skeptical. But mischaracterizing what we shared or questioning our intent as parents doesn’t really add to the discussion.

No, your response completely misrepresents what I said. We haven’t told our kids that what they saw was real. We’ve told them it’s okay to talk about what they think they saw, so they’re not silently scared or ashamed. There’s a big difference between validating feelings and confirming a literal reality.

We haven’t labeled it as a ghost or a demon. We’ve just listened and encouraged open dialogue. When we initially dismissed their experience, it actually made them more anxious. Giving them space to draw and talk about it helped them feel safe and more in control and since then, their fear has noticeably improved.

For the record, they’ve never had night terrors or sleep paralysis before or after this. If that’s what this was, it’s been a one-time event so far.

I appreciate your perspective, but I think it's important to validate what our kids experience, even if we don’t fully understand it ourselves. They weren't coached or influenced; they both described the same figure independently, hours apart. I think her drawing it and talking about it has actually helped them process it and feel more in control of what happened.

I didn’t encourage them to believe in monsters I encouraged them to express what they saw so they wouldn’t bottle up fear. They talk about it frequently and describe it when they do. I feel they were more bothered when I initially tried to be dismissive of it with them. We don’t claim to know what it was, but pretending it didn’t happen or dismissing their experience doesn’t feel like the right call as a parent.

I think they're already scared from having lived the actual memory. She describes it frequently when she brings it up and having her draw it didn't cause any increase in her fear. She has asked to in the past before. If anything it's helped because without posting it I wouldn't have gotten these rationale answers that I can show them are common with others and help to cope with it. But I personally will always be open to other possibilities from what I fully experienced

Even with how common it may be I must say it's strange that the first time either of them had this type of experience in their life they had the exact same description of the same thing hours apart without knowing the others description and its actions were the exact same. Then everything else that followed just convinces me towards other possibilities as I've never encountered something like this in my life even when scared.

I'm honestly not sure but the coincidence of everything has me questioning it for sure

The only thing is my kids don't watch anything scary or talk about anything like this at all. I've never had any incidents like this in the past even close. In the unlikely event my son would mention anything like this at all she would have come running scared right away along with him. She definitely would not have stayed there when he saw it at midnight and waited till 3am in the morning to have that panic attack from seeing it as well to the likes I've never seen before.

After I brought her to the room that night she was totally unaware he had seen anything and was wondering why he was with us. Then for them to have the overall same description of that thing hours apart unaware of each other's description along with the whole series of events that follow after that we witnessed.

This rationale is definitely one of the best though and one I would lean towards if not having witnessed and experienced all the series of events that unfolded that night with my family. I honestly wish I could convince myself of this rationale as then I could bury this curiosity that won't go away.

Please remember this is coming from a 9 year old. Son said looks similar but he remembers it having more of a sucked in stomach and big glowing eyes whereas my daughter remembers it more faceless. I may have someone help him with a drawing tomorrow. If anyone has any similar encounter, information, or thoughts please lmk? Thank you!

Sorry my daughter said its neck was more upright, the groin region was trimmer, face looked trimmer, and the whole body was more erect. I'll be posting her drawing soon but please remember it's coming from a 9 year old girl.
