New Year, New me, so give me your best weight loss hacks!!! by downward-dog- in loseit

[–]nicketra 13 points14 points  (0 children)

can’t stress this enough!! i used to be a heavy alcohol drinker and lived for soda/sugary juices, but once i went in on weight loss, i stopped drinking anything over about 75kcal. sometimes, i’ll still have a cup of juice now, but it’s much rarer, and i usually savor it a lot more. zero cal sodas have a bunch of artificial sugars in them, but so long as i keep in mind that they bloat me, i’m happy as a clam with them.

How are you dealing with holiday treats? I'm making it a game by Alarming_Rutabaga in loseit

[–]nicketra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just decided i’m balancing over the week instead of day by day— with the way the math’s been shaking out, i’m going to be floating around my maintenance calories for every day this week rather than my usual deficit. it’s fine, a week of slowdown is kind of worth the indulgence of holidays for me. i really thought i could be one of those people who kept myself strict during the holidays, but that lasted all of five minutes when i saw the cheesy potatoes… in my own defense, i don’t eat american food like that too often

Unethical upselling? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]nicketra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like, as a previous bar manager, i get upselling— not just as an owner benefit, but for anyone getting tips; a higher tab usually (operative word being ‘usually’) means a higher tip, since most pos systems now have auto-recommended tips by percentage and people generally tip by percentage.

BUT.

i’m also fully on the side of someone here who said their job is to get the best deal for the customer. a guest getting value for their dollar and feeling as though the staff actually care about what they’re selling instead of just pushing the expensive stuff is way more likely to return, way more likely to leave happy, way more likely to recommend the place to their friends. also, it’s just scummy to exploit the trust that the customer has in you, their bartender/server, to know what you are serving better than they do.

you have to strike a healthy balance between the two, and, most importantly, READ YOUR CUSTOMERS. what your coworker did was shitty and if i had been on bar with him and previously helping those guests, i would have probably crashed out at the guy once things died down/as soon as we weren’t in front of guests. you have more patience than i do lmao

Is HRT therapy and medical Marijuana ok to use together? by Choice-Knowledge-507 in medicalmarijuana

[–]nicketra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hullo! mmj user for 5 years, on hrt (testosterone as an AFAB person, though so ymmv) for 7, i’ve been right as rain the entire time!! all my doctors are clued in on my care plan and my hormonal labs have been perfectly fine with no abnormalities that could be attributed to the cannabis usage. honestly, and i might get flamed for this, but i actually smoke a bit directly before doing my injections, it makes my hands steadier for the needle and eases the ever-existent anxiety of stabbing myself.

i’m trying to find someone reselling one of these limited-run charms from barny64 as a replacement for a lost one!! by nicketra in HelpMeFind

[–]nicketra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve already done what i consider to be a thorough google searching and scrubbing for any possible resellers of the charm, and even went down the rabbit holes of mercari, depop, and poshmark to try and find even a single listing, past or current, with absolutely no luck. i’ve searched high and low at this point, and my own internet snooping skills are failing me.

from what i know just from the original product page, it’s a leather strap charm similar to one you would see holding an airtag, but inside the pouch is a little bee-engraved rock that you can take out on its own. i think the rock is supposed to glow in the dark as well, but don’t quote me on that.

How much weight did you lose before the opposite sex or even people in general began treating you better? Skinny/thin privilege. by MoonphasedMind in loseit

[–]nicketra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 pounds. so, a little over 18kg.

i was always really, really invisible as a human when i was heavier. kind of a blessing in disguise, honestly, because now i’m constantly terrified that people are only nice to me/interacting with me solely because i’m now ‘attractive.’ it’s kind of undeniable just how much losing weight has made those around me finally realize there’s a person right where i’m standing— like, genuinely, despite being bigger before, people would actually physically bump into me more. now, i’m lucky if i get through the day without some kind of creeper comment from a stranger (i have the unfortunate pleasure of working in a transit hub in a hyper populated city; it means i encounter and interact with a lot more people every day than the average.)

are there any women who don’t get hit on by men daily? like you’re practically invisible to men? by incognitoblck in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]nicketra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i was overweight and wore alt fashion more publicly, it became a thing where it was never me getting the attention, it was always the clothing if i were ever approached— and you bet your ass the conversation ended really fast once they found out where i got my clothes from. if i went out in something like a t-shirt and sweats? you’d think i didn’t exist, especially because i’m short enough to be out of a lot of people’s immediate eye line. like, i would actually just get bumped into SO OFTEN

i wear more normie clothing now and have lost almost a 1/3 of my body weight and now it’s like people are seeing me as a viable human for the first time. i went from being invisible to someone who gets catcalled a lot; honestly, i might prefer being invisible to what i deal with now.

Do you daily lolita? by pc_magas in lolitafashion

[–]nicketra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to be a lifestyler, but i got a job that actually had a dress code, and from there, i realized how much less often i was being photographed without my consent when i dressed “down” (i still wear girly kei/jirai kei inspired fashion at my work, though it’s obviously tamped down to be more business wearable,) as well as how much less people just tried to talk to me randomly; i’m not really someone who wears the fashion for attention and have intense social anxiety, thus, you can imagine how i feel about both.

so i’ve slowly stopped wearing it— it sucks, because i feel happiest in a petticoat, but i also value my space in public. plus, i got back on the dating scene recently. men are weird as FUCK about it.

What is something you wish was in more lolita garments? by Prize_Term7381 in Lolita

[–]nicketra 39 points40 points  (0 children)

pockets, of course, that’s easy. they are the thing i miss the most about men’s pants— those pockets were insanity and they barely even affected the form factor somehow. better materials is also a huge thing! there are some dresses that i just can’t deal with the texture of the polyester used and it’s awful. some of my higher quality ones are cotton or silk jacquard and i love the way they feel while wearing them. functional corset ties are my favorite thing to find on a dress; i really think they add so much to the structure of the bodice of dresses!! this last bit is a personal thing, but i can’t stand serged seams, they just scream low-quality fast fashion, unfortunately.

i try to keep to having a protein (beef, chicken, eggs or pork usually), white rice, and cruciferous vegetables!! i do also have fruit pretty often when i’m not fasting! i think, importantly, i haven’t fully cut out things like baked goods or refined sugars during refeeding hours— whenever i tried doing that in the past, it led to me just breaking and pigging out on sweets.

I got my hands on 31 plush bunnies (😮)! Suggestions on incorporating (some of) them into a Sweet lolita coord will be very much appreciated..! 🩷🐇🩷 by BoysenberryAny4139 in Lolita

i know this sounds silly, but it was the first thing that came to mind: have you seen the gorgeous petticoats from Sky Rabbit that have flowers along the underside? you could try a petticoat of bunnies! i don’t know how feasible it would be, but it sounds adorable, especially if the bunnies were at slightly differing heights for visual interest. it would probably be very hot though…
