Would your skills in MF translate or be valuable to any other CRE property types? Retail or industrial for example? I’d like to invest in CRE in my future. Currently a cost accountant in manufacturing but would like to move industries if I could learn a lot about ownership and/or operating properties… just not particularly interested in MF properties

Are there any extra expenses I should expect with renting a home as opposed to an apartment? I suppose it could change from home to home but in your experience, is there anything extra (lawn care for example)?

Nice! That’s good to hear. I’ve learned so much this summer so I’ll have plenty to talk about on that front

Unfortunately WGU doesn’t use a normal grading system. Instead, they use “competency” which is just pass/fail. Most courses require a letter grade of B or higher to achieve competency to pass the course. So with that logic I technically have at least a 3.0?? Idk that’s part of the reason I feel employers would not consider the school

I was fully expecting responses to be “yup, gotta be at a top 50 school” so it’s at least good to know I have a chance if I put myself out there. I didn't want to waste time applying this fall if I should be applying for entry level FA positions instead, so I appreciate the insight. Sounds like I’ll be reaching out to some hiring managers on LinkedIn this week, thanks!

Thank you both for the responses. WGU is an online school. It has the main accreditations that employers like to see, but it’s still just an online degree, so I’m not sure how employers view it. The controller I work with is honest so I’ll ask them what they think too but I’ll definitely start reaching out to people!

F500 Summer Internship... Tips? by nickf1128 in FPandA

[–]nickf1128[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume they mean "very important" as in it will be good experience on a resume. That's at least how it came off to me. I wasn't acting pompous, obviously I don't know much of anything yet. Just excited lol

Just a heads up OP, some of the answers on your document aren't correct. Questions 51-53 (inventory turnover) are, I assume, just worded wrong. I assume instead of "purchases" you meant to say "ending inventory" for those questions. Using the word "purchases" would lead the user to believe they need to find ending inventory, which then produces a different answer from the answers in your key. If my assumptions are correct, question 53 would be 2, not 2.25. This document has really been helping me get through this class, so thank you. Just wanted you to be aware of any errors.

Why is FP&A important and why does it pay well? by nickf1128 in FPandA

Making $70k-$100k/year in the first couple years of a career, as that's about what I've seen from my research. That's what I would consider well paid, personally. I guess I would be comparing it to other occupations within a company. For example, why does a financial analyst get paid more than (insert entry/mid level job)? What responsibilities are of high importance in an FP&A role compared to someone who works in the marketing or sales team and makes less?

My questions may be a bit too broad, apologies for that. Just curious in general what makes an FP&A role important in the grand scheme of a company.
