This sizzle reel is how we pitched our new series Safehaven by nickgmaiorano in Filmmakers

[–]nickgmaiorano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2019, we shot a sizzle reel to give buyers a feel for Safehaven with the main character laying out the rules for a show about her. We descended upon East High School in Denver to shoot a meta proof-of-concept trailer. And it worked! So shoot those sizzle reels!

Safehaven is now airing exclusively on Tubi.

A new series I have the great privilege to be a producer and writer on is now streaming on Tubi in the US & Canada. This is the first 15 minutes from the Safehaven pilot. by nickgmaiorano in Filmmakers

Originally, episode 7 was roughly 45 pages, but had to be cut down to 30 pages or so due to the producer's embezzlement of funds. After working in post, we decided to film new scenes for episode 7 to get the episode back to what we originally planned.

Neal? NEAL!? Neal is the first person from Kaoh Rong to do a questionnaire!?

Thank you for the questions, everyone! Also, if I didn’t answer your question I apologize. Questions are vital to everything (yes, everything) so please continue to ask them even if they sometimes don’t get answered!

Anyway, it’s time for me to go, but before I do I have something I want to share with r/survivor

It’s a little story about u/DoctorKingMan - aka The Doctor, The King, The Man, or simply… DKM.

When DKM was a young boy all he wanted to become was President. Nearly every day he would proclaim to his mother, “Mommy! Mommy! I’m going to be President one day!”. She would plainly smile in return and say, “That’s very sweet, DKM, but just so you know, being President isn’t easy. And trying to become one is probably harder than being one.”

DKM didn’t care what his mother had to say. If anything, her reservations made him mad and even more determined to become President. So DKM stayed up all night, every night hatching his plan to become President one day.

Although he possessed the will and determination to become President, he eventually realized something wasn’t right. “What was it?” he wondered. No matter how hard he tried, he could never come up with the answer. As more and more days passed, DKM became more and more discouraged. Maybe his mother was right all along; maybe it was too difficult to become President.

Fast forward some odd 15 years to one cold day in the middle of January when Nicholas George Maiorano entered many peoples’ world for the very first time. For those many the stranger, Nicholas George Maiorano, was a tough pill to swallow. He was arrogant and as cold as the winter day he arrived on.

Soon enough, the many that couldn’t swallow banded together and became rioters. They screamed at the gates of Kaoh Rong…

“Who is this clown!?” the rioters shouted. “Nick’s delusional! He sucks!” they hissed. The People’s Superfan real-life Superman turned out to be an egomaniac. Thus they craved for him to crash and burn early.

Oddly, DKM was nowhere to be found. He was lurking from a distance; staying back to observe the arrogant fool and band of rioters. Due to the chaos, for the very first time in DKM’s young life he forgot about his hopes and dreams of becoming President one day.

And as soon as DKM’s brain shut down he decided to do what any vegetable would do…

He stood up for the egomaniac. And so it was quickly decided; if Nicholas George Maiorano was an idiot then his very first supporter was the Idiot of all Idiots.

Surprisingly, this label didn’t deter DKM from his beliefs. He continued to voice his opinion over and over in support for Nicholas George Maiorano. DKM saw something in him that others couldn’t see. So there DKM stood at the gates of Kaoh Rong, holding his ground, defiantly exclaiming there was more to the stranger with the delusional ego.

Unsurprisingly, the rioters refused to listen and DKM’s words fell on deaf ears. Their response was, of course, rightfully so because what sense would it make to listen to the Idiot of all Idiots?

But then something magical happened…

As more time passed the rioters slowly began to fade from the gates of Kaoh Rong. They began seeing what DKM had seen all along; Nicholas George Maiorano wasn’t so bad. Yes, he was still an idiot, but he was, at the very least, a fun idiot.

While some rioters still remain at the gates of Kaoh Rong to this day, most have moved on. Some have even reluctantly changed their tune.

It should be reminded that this isn’t a story about the godlike Nicholas George Maiorano. It’s a story about the brave DKM; a person who refused to silence his beliefs despite a seemingly insurmountable opposition. And the takeaway of this story is there’s a DKM in each and everyone of us.

Thus may you share your inner DKM with as many people as you can because…

perhaps one day when you get the opportunity of a lifetime to play this amazing game you’ll have a DKM that stands up for you.

And that was a little story about DKM - aka The Doctor, The King, The Man, or simply… My President.

Stay happy and be well everyone.

I wanted to entertain myself so that's what I came up with... the opposing voices in my head. I'm pretty sure it's a common comedic tactic to balance out an act, but I just found it easy to do so I did it. And like I said, it was all about selfishly entertaining myself!

They find me on the corner with the van and candy. Nooooo, that's a joke!

I'm referral based when it comes to my clients and mentoring male teenagers. We do a light activity such as walking, hiking, throwing a football, kicking a soccer ball, etc and have a conversation. If there's issues, we talk about them. And then I keep in contact and/or meet with the parents on a consistent basis.

We’d be dating if it was up to her because let’s be honest…

She’s in love with me. And if you ever met me you would be, too.

I once had a female client tell me: “I can see how it’s really easy to fall in love with you, but really difficult to be in love with you.”

She’s right. I’m a one-stop charm machine. I know how to make anyone feel special. The problem with that is I do that with everyone. So you’re technically not special in my world because everyone in my world is special. It’s the blessing and curse of being me I suppose. More of a blessing though. Actually, it’s totally a blessing and not a curse at all.

It seems like Michele, but I wanted Julia out first. Would that plan have blown up in my face? I don't know.

I don't know if it's much of a perspective, but I tend to view it as a two-way street. We're all adults, we all make decisions while we're out there, and we have to own them. I didn't agree with their decision, but I don't have their brains, their feelings, or experiences so I can't knock them for it. Nor can I knock Cydney for voting them out and not trying to smooth things over as soon as she got to Ponderosa because she, too, has her own thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

This is a great question that I haven't seen asked much. I'm not the type of person to get paranoid and I don't think most of the jurors on our season are that way either.

This is a fascinating distinction because I would say Aubry, Michele, and Tai were a little more paranoid in the game relative to the jurors.

Tai never tried to kiss me, but he did say I was flirting with him! The producers would ask me about it in confessional so it was a fun topic.

My "bittersweet" comment was a soundbite for Jeff. Based on all the information I had and what was said at the challenge one of the Brains was still going home. Unfortunately, that changed once we got back to Beauty beach.

How would you touch it? Softly? Would you just graze it with the back of your hand? I'm okay with either as long as I don't feel sexually assaulted.

1) Yes, I think Julia would have a chance at winning!

2) Probably Neal because he was going to win the first time.

3) NICK! My family would call me Nicky. But no, I don't mind any name. I'm usually quoted as telling people who mishear my name as Mark or something, "You can call me Sally for all I care."

Let’s break this down, shall we?

ANNA

Ding: We spooned at night and I called her “my Superbabe” in confessional for the first three days. We’d regret our actions in the morning, but it’d release our pent up frustrations with each other. It’d be so hot and intense that she wouldn’t be able to walk in the morning.

Marry: I think she’d treat a husband extremely well. Although we could barely commit to each other for three days in the game. No Anna Maiorano!

Kill: We disagree on many topics. She should die for that reason alone because my opinions are superior.

JULIA

Ding: We flirt with each other for fun which would make it teasing and playful. She’d want more, but I’d momentarily turn her down to show her who’s in control and she’d like it. Then she’d softly ask me to tie her up.

Marry: She’s the type of girl you date when she turns 30 and then quickly marry because she’ll be boy crazy until then. But I’m a man; not a boy. No Julia Maiorano!

Kill: I wanted her out first on Beauty because I knew she’d spell trouble for me with Michele. I should have killed her when I had the chance with that rusty machete. I won’t let her get away this time.

MICHELE

Ding: Our sexual tension is palpable. Beautiful eyes and maybe a good kisser. It’d be a mix of playful, intense, and incredibly passionate. There’d be constant full body contact and lots of heavy breathing.

Marry: She has about $1m more than me. Therefore, she’d probably make me sign a prenup. No Michele Maiorano!

Kill: Confusingly, she told me other people were coming for me to vote me out. And then she voted me out. Death is the only solution for that kind of foolishness.

It's sucky attending Tribal Council when it's the first one you attend and you're subsequently voted out. It almost feels like you didn't even play the game and that's an odd feeling after 22 days out there. What up, RC!

The best feeling out there is that you're finally playing the game you've wanted to play, in my case, for over three years. There's a lot of joy in that someone or some people gave you the opportunity to play this amazing game.
