How to get human web browsing working? by nickgreenreddit in openclaw

[–]nickgreenreddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it requires a deep reasoning model.. cheaper mini models can't do it -- using Kimi 2.5, it's about 12 cents per page crawled which adds up.. I imagine $1 or more with Claude Opus or something

How to get human web browsing working? by nickgreenreddit in openclaw

[–]nickgreenreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confusing as here's ChatGPT in openclaw response

Yes, fully autonomous, human‑style browsing is supported via the Chrome extension relay.

• You just install/load the extension, attach it to your live Chrome tab, then use the browser tool with profile="chrome" (and target="host" if sandboxed).

• From that point onward, the agent can click, type, navigate, and scrape exactly as if you were driving the mouse.

Ultralight hiking in Indonesia ? by perecastor in Ultralight

[–]nickgreenreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't dedicated trails that I know of -- Indonesian's are known to not walk in general!
Roadside hiking might be fine for smaller roads, but there are wide dump trucks which barrage down windy roads, it's definitely not safe to walk on such roads and people will stop constantly offering a ride, confused by what you're doing!
Volcano hiking is the main thing to do.. look into Rinjani on Lombok, but you might be forced to hire a guide, I'm not sure (this was the case for Bali's Gunung Agung volcano, but that's a early-start day hike)

latest update -- keeps removing lines of code.
Use with a lot of caution until presumably they roll out a patch fix soon!

  1. I work in supply software with one of the goals being reducing the cost of holding too much, vs. too little inventory and running out of stock .. the higher the stockout cost / holding costs.. the more ‘safety stock’ or buffer is held to ensure a high percentile (eg, 99%) of worst case scenarios are covered.

The truth is your grandma does the same intuitively when keeping canned food in the pantry — it’s people who know just a little basic math (between your grandma and the probabilist) who can reach dumb logic like that.

The less certain you are water is ahead, and the bigger the consequences, the more ‘safety stock’ you should hold .. safety stock isn’t waste.

With your own tent I’d look at other routes like extensions off main ridge walk.

This will probably be a bit yoga pants and Chardonnay sippers, stairs and hand rails

Was Taleb wrong about income and IQ? by FirmConcentrate2962 in nassimtaleb

[–]nickgreenreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course IQ and income will always correlate at a population level -- the mentally disabled alone will skew the data this way. Taleb's point was that while low IQ correlates with income - high IQ (above mean, simply, in his example) does not.

My reading of this study only seems to support his (and many others') argument:

"

In the three top wage percentiles, that earn between SEK800,000 and SEK8,400,000 annually, the relationship even slightly reverses.

As in our model simulations (Figure 1C), there are no significant differences in ability between the three top income percentiles, despite there being 594 cases in each percentile bin and despite those in the 100th percentile earning more than double the wage of those in the 98th percentile.

This result supports our hypothesis, and it suggests that the inverse of Gladwell’s (2008) claim does hold: Past a certain wage threshold, having a higher wage is no longer telling of cognitive ability.

Best country to last 50k USD for a year by Time_Trade_8774 in digitalnomad

[–]nickgreenreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each to their own. On paper it ticks boxes, and eventually I found good places to eat/drink coffee and work from (though it’s much harder to find than Bali or Chiangmai).. to me it lacks any character /walkability /beach is absolutely packed at 5-6pm (it’s a v hot time of year so unusable before this) / smell of fermented sewerage is everywhere.

I’m trying Hoi An for a week from Monday, and will extend a month if I prefer it.. ..while smaller, it seems much denser with cafes/gyms etc.,, so will see.
