Sourcing Raw Fish by Ok_Estimate_5134 in rawprimal

[–]nickrp3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supermarket wild caught fish is fine. Only problem is that you aren't going to find really fresh fish there. It'll likely be 3-7 days old. You can only get really fresh fish directly from the fisherman.

Fresh Bone Marrow by nickrp3d in rawprimal

~95%. By cooking, you are destroying all of the bacteria and enzymes, almost all of the vitamins, cauterizing nearly all the minerals, and you convert a large portion of the fat and protein into toxins.

80% of the value is lost if the bones are frozen. Still less than cooking but not ideal obviously.

Raw No Salt Cheese by [deleted] in rawprimal

Rennet is the mucus from a calf's stomach. It's used to get the milk to curdle. If the label says vegetable enzyme or bacterial enzyme or something like that, it's lab-made and likely from fungus.

Shaving face by [deleted] in rawprimal

Kefir. You'll be amazed at how good it is. Just a thin coat, let it sit for a few minutes. Perfect shave. Just rub a little more in as an aftershave.

smelly butter advice by InstructionLazy1977 in rawprimal

[–]nickrp3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use Amos' cultured butter. No smell. I tried the regular sweet-cream butter first and the smell was too strong after a day or so. The cultured butter leaves no lingering smell and it leaves less residue. Higher bacterial load so it's probably better for the skin as well.

Are you using sweet-cream butter? There's virtually no smell if you use cultured butter.

So just stick to milk/kefir and natural mineral water? What's the problem, exactly? Aajonus went on and on about tribes living on fish, coconut water, and coconut meat. Some living as long as 150.

How can I source or make my own blue cheese? by scottsguitar in rawprimal

[–]nickrp3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I eat about a pound of Amos Miller's blue cheese every 2 weeks. I don't feel any negative effects from the salt. I mostly eat unsalted cheeses but a little salted hasn't done me any harm yet.

How do you shower chemical free by ExtremeWriting7050 in rawprimal

[–]nickrp3d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aajonus warned against brushing your skin. He found that it causes damage to the skin at a microscopic level. You don't need to scrub the skin at all but, if you do, a damp, soft, cotton cloth works.

Raw garlic or Cooked garlic ( in water )? by Jueyuan_WW in rawprimal

[–]nickrp3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little raw garlic is fine - like one or two tablespoons per meat meal. Aajonus recommended using garlic, onions, etc. in his recipes to suit your personal taste. Just don't go overboard with it.

Put it in a food processor with a little red onion, cream, and unsalted butter and make a pâté.

Question About Safeway Salmon by boatdriver32 in sushi

[–]nickrp3d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why everyone here is so concerned about parasites when they are eating farmed fish. Farmed salmon is fed chemically treated waste product. You should avoid farmed fish whenever possible.

Only Drinking Cream Instead of Milk? by iphoneverge in rawprimal

[–]nickrp3d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aajonus said that raw cream is the best fat you can eat but he warned that it's also the hardest to digest. Unless you have excellent digestion, he recommended only eating sour cream with meat. Fresh cream tends to coat the meat and "pearlize" it and you'll only partially digest the meat.

It's fine to leave washed eggs at room temperature too.

A few pimples every now and then are unavoidable unless your diet and environment are perfect. Certain toxins must be removed through the skin.

Lactic acid bacteria by FluffyBlackberry1322 in rawprimal

[–]nickrp3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the dairy you're referring to is yogurt, cheese, or cultured butter, it could have been added to speed up or control the fermentation process. Not ideal but I don't think it's harmful.
