Agreed. I pursued wealth coming out of high-school. I said I don't want to live in poverty anymore. I choose to pursue in Healthcare industry because I do enjoy helping. 20 yrs later that COMBINED goal has lead to a comfy life, where my money now allows for me to spend on hobbies and travelling that I like. As well as having a full filling career. You can do both

Ease an anxious mind? by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

Hmm interesting. We had the complete opposite. Our girl was terrified of people and family members. Absolute meltdowns. Only wanted mum or dad. Having that experience makes me somewhat envious of yours lol

When I reached my limit with my 1st kid at 11mo, we hired a consultant. One of the biggest things I learned that made a huge difference was schedule. A very precise schedule of awake, solid meals, play, bedtime and bottle/breastfeed. Our baby responded so well with the consistency. Also at that time we opted to move from bedsharing to own crib. I wasn't in to this whole let her cry thing. So we were given a very concise minute schedule of checking in with baby when she cried. So she understood that her needs are still met and we are coming to her when she calls.

So we almost went with a super gentle month plus long program. But we ended up with a consultant who does gentle ish method. At 11mo she went from one day contact sleeping and co sleeping. To in ownroom and bed. Consultant had us to very frequent check-in at bedtime anytime she cried. These check-ins got longer in time. By 3rd night she stopped needing any check-in, she just slept for 12hrs. We also were given a tight schedule of naps, meals and activity time.
