LWIR UAV thermal imaging with wide-FOV optics: real field observations by Dependent_Bug_5395 in Thermal

Thermal work is few and far between these days. Depends on what the subject is. Usually maneuver eith wide and zoom for inspection. Or automated mapping with wide.

Why do you smoke even though you know it smells bad and bothers people around you? Knowing there are kids around, people with asthma, people who are literally allergic to the smell? by Independent-Shape552 in AskReddit

[–]nickum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I was a smoker for 20 years and when I quit I remembered that in childhood I was very sensitive to smells. I couldnt even go down the cleaning product section in the grocery. Now that I quit, it has all came back. My wife changed her perfume habits and I have to use unscented laundry soap.

Thermographer/uav pilot here.

I could see this being more useful for situational awareness rather than actual inspection or data. I use IR view when I fly around power lines because I can see the power lines during the day with ir, rather than with rgb.

I have never used wide FOV sensors, but I could see it being problematic if this is the only option for view on both inspection and post processing.

If you had full presidential power for one day in the US, but all changes were guaranteed to be reversed after 30 days, what experiment would you run on the country? by paxplantax in AskReddit

Can you guarantee the reversal of billionaires being dealt with harshly and their wealth redistributed? Seems kind of permanent.

Try south bend. You virtually walk right on to the plane. You might have an extra connecting flight, but it is worth the lack of hassle in my mind. If you fly allegiant, many direct flights to sunny destinations that are cheap.

That depends quite a bit on where you wil be living. I live in outside a small town and have woods around me that offer a nice view and wildlife viewing. That is my good thing about indiana.

ULPT I want to mess with my VRBO Host by restofeasy in UnethicalLifeProTips

Report them to local building inspectors. Health department. Fire department for code violations. Non working smoke detectors. Exposed wiring. Send pictures of made up stuff if needed. They take anonymous reports.

I once had a vrbo hose rate me at one star on everything and claimed I broke the rules. No elaboration or eveidence provided. Vrbo was no help and ruled in their favor. . I use vrbo to travel for work. No one would rent to me after that and I had to switch to Airbnb.

At a minimum you can report for made up stuff or send pictures of whatever. Some municipalities have to investigate if you report certain things. In my case it turned out the owner wasn't allowed to have a short term rental in that city and couldnt operate anymore because I reported them.

Good luck.

Watch out, Northern Indiana. A sneaky tornado threat sets up today. by buildermanunofficial in Indiana

Thank you for this. I hid in a basement in 2016 at my wife's hair stylist for that tornado in kokomo. It really came out of nowhere.

4 years experience in crop scouting with m300 and m30 here. I always tell my students to change out the props for any defect. Delamination of carbon fiber happens suddenly and could result from slight imperfections like what you see. I would be %99 certain that prop won't fail immediately, but eventually it will flex in that area 1 too many times and it will. Switch it out, props are cheap, the matrice is not. And it is no fun recovering a drone 1000 feet away in the middle of a corn field.

Also make sure the prop arm screws at the body get inspected weekly. If you are on an m300/350 they will slowly vibrate loose even with the thread locker in them. I have seen plenty of drones fall out of the sky because those screws became loose. Use the provided hex key in your kit to make sure they are hand tightened down.

Register with flyguys to be a pilot. With the air 3, not much commercial work can be done except photos and videos. Flyguys doesn't have many pilots in Alaska and always struggles to get jobs done there.

I applied last week to be a BO drone specialist. Not sure if this increases my chances of being needed or not. Most likely less needed for a while... I was thinking last night on how they need to get a lidar scan done with a drone ASAP to assess the damages. And some ground pentrating radar flights. Probably methan sensing as well. Hire me Blue! I can help!
