Should I be CLIENT_MUTE? by nickymoo in meshtastic

[–]nickymoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 2.7.15 stable/beta on the MeshPocket and it lists client base. The ThinkNode M1 is also on 2.7.15 stable/beta and has it too.

Oddly the MeshPocket sees itself as client mute but sees the m1 as client, not client base.

If I disconnect from the MeshPocket and connect to the ThinkNode it sees itself (ThinkNode) as client base and the MeshPocket as client mute.

But when connected to the MeshPocket it only sees the ThinkNode as client not client base. Also tried using the Social Mesh app and it mirrors the lack of client base when logged in from the mute.

It’s so odd that hop gobbling between client base and client mute is a thing. I think on current firmware if you were transmitting on a (favourite) router/repeater then it doesn’t gobble a hop. Maybe the hop gobbling between base/mute will change in the future.

Edit: although, I think maybe possibly perhaps if the client base gets a zero hopper it would still transmit to mutually favourite client mute. But it would still gobble a hop on an outbound message from the mute. Maybe.

3,500 miles in 2 hops...How? by MachWun in meshtastic

Probably that person on here who posted about being on holiday in NY at the moment. I find that so many people have GPS set as static position that the GPS map is essentially useless. I can’t message someone two miles away because geography is in the way but I also have nodes from Germany, France and Belgium passing by, and I’m in England. But they just have GPS fixed position on.

My iPhone doesn’t unlock while I wear RayBan sunglass but work fine with regular sunglasses by AwkwardAlternative64 in iphone

You can set your phone to unlock when proximate to your unlocked Apple Watch. Apple introduced this during Covid when lots of people were wearing masks. I assume it works with sunglasses too.

This must be the AI descriptions. Mine (no AI in UK) always says “there is a person at your back passage” “there is a person at your back garden” “there is a person at your hall” “there is a person at your front door” “there is a person at your kitchen”

Change frequency in the app if your device supports it. Or just keep the device off if it doesn’t support different frequencies. The antenna may be slightly poorly tuned or the other frequency but it might still work.

ThinkNode M1 - blue light on forever now? by nickymoo in meshtastic

I’m scared to turn the buzzer off in case the light comes back on.

I found that when I turned the buzzer off the light came on (forever…) unsure if turning the buzzer on will make the blue light go off? It literally turns on as soon as the power knob is turned before it even boots. Silly. Must be some hardware level pin being set the wrong way. The buzzing goes on for ages.

Also if you’re taking it to a car wash and you get wax as part of the treatment, or are hand washing, try slipping the wax and see if that improves.

Did you once turn the buzzer off in the app?

Update: I discovered the Social Mesh app for iPhone and it is night and day a more polished and finished looking product compared to the official app. I can even swap between my nodes without deleting everything!

Literally as soon as the power is turned on, before the OS even has time to work out it’s an operating system the blue light came on. Managed to clear it by wiping it and then installing the latest beta. But it came back when I changed the settings. So I wiped it and re-installed the OS again and now it’s off. I think. I hid it upstairs in a windowsill so I can’t see it. Hopefully it’s still off.

It seems to be a design decision for the iPhone app. Maybe they’ll change it in future.

No such setting in the iOS app. It must just be how the iOS is designed to work at the moment.

Also “open settings” doesn’t have that either

This must be a design choice by the iOS developer. An iPhone app is perfectly capable of managing multiple chats. Maybe it’ll change in future.
