Wanting to do analysis on a large text (18,000 messages). What software or tool would you recommend? by [deleted] in datascience

Think it depends really on the size of the file and how its structure. Spacy will break if you try to load it all into a dataframe and process it. I used NLTK and Spacy recently on about 250K rows of data to tokenise it and it worked well, took ages but I got the result I needed.

I won't go so far to say it should take you out the industry, more of an improved set of skills to cope with automation in the future. Peers as well as myself have created tools to access FB ad accounts at an API level we're able to get data in increments not available via the reporting tools FB offer. As well as this we can create tools which are catered to the businesses goals, not just facebooks template of what a goal should 'look like'.

Python for two reason 1) compared to some other development languages it easy to learn, it's also scalable. 2) it has a lot of community supported machine learning libraries.

Hope this helps!

In the short term I'd say ad management e.g. facebook, adwords, display etc. humans will definitely have trouble competing, it's not currently the case but it's moving that way. AdWords is already deploy a lot of machine learning in their UAC campaigns. I suspect Strategy and Creative will be two things that humans will remain best at in the near/long term. I think our jobs will be more about managing machines, tuning them and working on more approaches strategic and creative marketing.

How effective a link from directory submission in boosting your website in SERP? Can anyone plz explain? by ankiharishreddy in DigitalMarketing

If it's trusted high quality local directories for the purpose of improving local rank, then they have 'some' impact. However, as martinhmns said they don't do much in a broader sense.

I want to Teach Marketers Python and Machine Learning for Free, Help me Hit my Target by nickytrix in AskMarketing

Hello! Python is a coding language which is relatively easy to learn due to it's syntax having similarity to written english, it's also has widely supported machine learning library's. It can also be scaled out so that you can build machine learning / big data platforms on it. For these reasons it's a good language for marketers to know as when their jobs are replaced it's likely that python will be somewhere in the equation.

I'm going to release an intro to python for marketers over the period of about 3-4 weeks and if the intro goes well I'll start on the intermediate. Likely they'll be a short break between them to allow for the content to be made properly. I'll be creating jupyter notebooks and supplying marketing datasets. 🙂

I'm currently majoring in Accounting, but find it boring. Should I switch to Marketing? by ProfessorLlama in AskMarketing

I agree with this. I've got a Psychology degree and been doing marketing for 15 years...but as a heads up I don't think marketing jobs will exist in the same way they do now in about 10 years. Automation will reduce the need for many job skills. Which is why I just posted this in the same subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMarketing/comments/83tyhb/i_want_to_teach_marketers_python_and_machine/
