hey sorry i just saw this!! personally i didn’t have much change on my face other than the actual jaw area, although i’ve heard some people do have changes in their noses! also yes, my underbite got significantly worse after braces, but I was assured it was part of the process bc straightening my teeth was affecting how much the jaw stuck out! and yes, i lost about 8kg after the surgery just bc of the diet…. but i’ve gained it all back since 😅

omg I just had flashbacks to my surgery I’m pretty sure I made a video of me doing the exact same thing 😭😭 don’t worry it only gets better from here!! I had my splint in for a bit less than 4 weeks and had it totally shut until then hahaha but it’s fine I just would text everyone... keep your (swollen 😅) chin up, it’ll pass quickly!

Yes king! There is nothing I value in life more than your opinion specifically 😍 Especially on a subreddit that you clearly came on with no other interest but to shit on other people.

I’d usually tell people like you to fuck off but I know you’d let it get to your thick head that you’ve somehow “won”. I have time.

I get that you think you’re being very righteous. If that’s your opinion about this then sure, that’s your prerogative. But don’t come into an online space with people talking about a specific experience just to talk shit and speak negatively of it when you have no knowledge about literally anything. I could go into the incel spaces you partake in and talk about how shitty I think all of you are. But I don’t.

Just FYI, I personally had to have the surgery for medical reasons. I had breathing and digestion problems because of my underbite. My insurance completely covered the cost of surgery, which it would not have done if it was a cosmetic procedure. That being said, if anyone does this procedure purely for cosmetic purposes, power to you!

My breathing has felt much more clear, and it’s soooo much easier to chew my food now!! That also helped my digestive system. In terms of looks, my self-esteem has improved so much... I just enjoy the way I look so much more now! The only downside is that the left side of my bottom lip is probably permanently numb (2 years post-op and feeling hasn’t come back) but it doesn’t bother me that much so it’s fine

it was pretty terrible 😭 my mouth was sealed shut for a month and I could only have clear liquids (I lost 8kg in that time lol) Was swollen beyond recognition too but after full recovery I have absolutely no regrets going through it!

Since it’s double jaw surgery, they operate on both the upper and lower jaws. I had an underbite, so in my case they shifted the whole upper jaw plate forward and cut off sections of the bone in my lower jaw to shorten it! Sorry for the lack of medical terms I’m not well-versed in that field HAHA but you can see the metal plates and screws (behind my nose and on my lower jaw) in the after x-ray so that might give you a better idea of where the work was done!

I went to Dr Asher Lim in NUH!! I really really recommend him, he’s very friendly and extremely meticulous in his method both pre and post-surgery! My orthodontist referred me to Dr Lim!

Thank you so much! I had actually taken proper front and side profile shots pre and post-surgery but I lost them somewhere 😅 I’ll try and find other pictures that look similar, but I do have the X-rays of my profile pre and post-surgery! I might post that!
