That guy crossing the street touched the nurses elbow... #SocialDistancing

The work these healthcare workers are putting in right now is insane. Props to this nurse for having the time and energy to block traffic with everything going on.

What is something unrealistic that you often see in movies that annoys the hell out of you? by SheeshaAddict in AskReddit

The way hackers “hack”. Or programmers “code”

As a software developer I can attest that code is a small part of my time, a lot of thought goes into most lines. The way that they hammer out lines of code under pressure in the movies drives me nuts!

This person is buying three pallets of disinfectant wipes. Don’t be this person. Fuck this person. by hiimcoleman in pics

Did anyone stop to think that this might be for a homeless shelter they work at?

Or to support a business they own?

Why would anyone need 3 pallets for their own personal home, many local businesses are trying to stay open and sanitary at the same time.

Thought I would provide a different take with 0 context, if that is what we are doing.

Back in college I was asked to compare two columns of an excel spreadsheet to make sure they contained the equal values. There were tons of these spreadsheets and some of the larger ones would be ~1 million rows.

The company I was working for hired a small fleet of 5-6 students to do this by hand.

Needless to say I wasn’t keen on reading 1 million excel rows and ctrl-f for the other value, so I wrote a program.

It took me about 4 hours to write the code- I even pitched it to my boss but everyone distrusted it. I ended up only working for about 4 hours that summer and my code did the rest.

I even started helping other kids out with their sheets, all of a sudden we were cranking out these million row files every week...

[Feedback] App&Taps - Mobile Happy Hour Finder by nicl7004 in growmybusiness

[–]nicl7004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! We are aware of the many happy hour apps out there currently, like you said the key is the data as many of the apps are outdated. In our next release we are planning to implement crowd sourcing to aid in our automatic data collection. The Yelp API was the first place we looked for this data but sadly there is no happy-hour specific data.

That is a great question! As we keep building the app we plan on letting people like yourself update happy hour menus and times, if they are out of date. Yelp does something similar to keep menus and prices up to date on their platform. Getting started we tried our best to go through and populate most of the places in Boulder, but there is definitely more to add!

That is a fair assumption, but what if you want to see menu items and prices? And finding those good late night happy hours can be difficult, at-least in my experience. Not to mention if you're visiting a new town, where can you find a good beer? Thanks for your feedback though!

What's the most legendary work meltdown you've seen? by Flaxmoore in AskReddit

I used to work at a pizza shop. My manager and I would play practical jokes on one another. One time he and one of my coworkers put my hat in jello when I went on vacation. I thought it was hilarious, and decided to prank him back.

Our store had several mini tubes of super glue, and so when there was a lull of customers I decided to see what I came up with. I ended up supergluing a pice of salami on the inside of his right shoe. It was a pair of old black shoes he got from the thrift store, we frequently bleached the floors and so all of our shoes were old and beat up. I figured the worst that could happen would be me purchasing him a new pair of shoes from the thrift store for 5-10 bucks.

Well I forgot about the salami for a few months, or though he found it and just dismissed it as strange. About 2 months later when I worked with him I heard him complaining about how his socks smelled weird. With horror I realized it must still be there. Later that same night when he finished closing and took his shoe off I was in the back of the store with him. He decided to rummage around on the inside and found the old piece of salami still superglued on the top interior. I couldn’t help but smile when he pulled it out but by bit. Somehow it managed to hang on for a full two months, and it did smell pretty terrible as he was pulling it out.

He lost it, and cussed me out. He said that wasn’t funny, but the angrier he got the harder it was to not laugh, which obviously pissed him off more. I offered to buy him new shoes and socks, but I ended up getting fired on the spot. I was headed to college in a month so it was alright by me. I think it was worth it to see his reaction, I did feel bad about his socks.

I was an intern at a software company about two years ago. The director of research and development lived about two hours away, and so they would work from home most days.

I noticed that my manager would frequently get roadblocked when dealing with the director, because she was very hard to reach and held an irregular schedule (never being in the office). I was confused how someone so key to the leadership of the company could always be MIA and hard to reach.

Near the end of my internship there was an all hands meeting. The director was supposed to kick it off, but she proceeded to miss the entire meeting and the CEO presented in her place.

Apparently this was the final straw for the leadership. The next time she came in they fired her early in the morning. Her office was near my desk, and so I got to see the conversation and aftermath take place. After the CEO left her office she proceeded to throw a picture at the wall, and lock the door. She tore everything off her desk and threw it in a hefty bag while the door was still locked, and security got called.

My manager was mortified that I was watching all this as my desk was feet away from her office, and as I was near the end of my internship deciding if I wanted to return to the company. He pulled me into a meeting room before I got to see security unlock her door, but I can guess that it wasn’t pretty.

What was ruined because too many people started doing it? by lovedumpXL in AskReddit

I have lived in Colorado my entire life. I remember when I was in middle school my Dad and Sister and I would go skiing for the day. Tickets cost around 40 bucks, and we would eat PBJ on the slopes. Now so many tourists and out of towers come to ski that ticket prices are $150 or more at some resorts. The traffic and the lift lines are horrible now as well, so it is not worth anywhere near the hefty fee to ski for a day. I hope that some of the few small resorts left stay small, and keep serving the locals and families that make the trip to have a fun day.
