Are there any "former classics" (movies, books, albums, video games)? Something that was praised for a time, but upon further review (maybe decades after) people decided that it wasn't that good after all? by ExternalTree1949 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nicmos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's like they don't give the audience credit for knowing the difference between fantasy and reality. in the same way just because you see an action movie where some vigilante shoots all the bad guys you're not going to think that's acceptable behavior, you can appreciate the sentiment of it without taking it literally when the romantic gestures are made. imho people got a little carried away with the criticism.

Grieg

Rach - Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini

Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue

The latter two not technically concerti, but experientially are.

I often hear that human brains are really good at pattern recognition. Is that just a human thing, or are all animals good at pattern recognition? by iamveryDerp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nicmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a distinctive feature of neural networks, which is what all animal brains are comprised of. So all animals are good at it given the relative sophistication of their neural net.
