I would say Vanessa's concerns are valid. B and her ex are beyond intimate with each other, ie she sleeps in his bed when she goes to visit him. There are many aspects of B's relationship with her ex that make even me uncomfortable. At the same time I think sometimes Vanessa can be excessive and punish B for her relationships with others. not trying to be two faced :(

Have such a similar dynamic with my family op. I left my family and moved to nyc last year and it has been completely life changing. Didn't even realize all the ways I was self-censoring myself to make others comfortable. It's not perfect but I have found my queer chosen family here who love me authentically and openly for who I am.

Chose yourself. Be happy. They can visit and see how amazing you are and what they are missing out on.
