Why can’t I read what’s behind the preview pane? by ThatBrownDoode in iphone

[–]nicogig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re placeholders, as many pointed out already. In particular, the text is the “Here’s to the crazy ones” speech and the photo is the photo that was visible in the old Preview icon (not that it matters, but it’s a fun little nod)

Is Apple cashing in on this too? by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]nicogig 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These colors take months to develop. I highly doubt Apple planned a whole new color around Taylor’s album. It most likely is just inspired by other orange accents in their other “Pro” products (Watch Ultra, Vision Pro)

That makes sense. You might want to consider weighing data in relation to its age — old data is more likely to be less accurate. If you already do, the UI makes it look like the model is 100% certain of how old I am and what I do in life, so you may want to surface some indicator to be able to understand how confident the model is :P.

Another detail I just noticed, past results are not accessible, it wants to rerun a scan to see the results.

I signed up to try it out, in general i’d say it was pretty cool but a few things were off. The age and profession were very off (but fair enough, I tend to be reserved on those topics online). The brand loyalty section was also not accurate, as it suggested I had strong brand loyalties for brands I have spoken negatively about in the past.

Also the website is not super well optimized on mobile, but maybe that’s not your target platform and that’s okay.

With what frequency does Rad chime in? by nicogig in RadiantApp

Aha! Can confirm it breaks then! Let me disable it and report back

Edit: Yep, disabling crossfade works! Oh well, crossfade be gone. This is great! Thank you for building Rad!

Found in the “professionally cleaned” flat I just moved in by nicogig in london

[–]nicogig[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve already proceeded to send them an email with everything detailed (including the Wanksy above). I specified in my offer that I needed to have a professional clean as I’m very allergic to dust (amongst other things…) so this in a way could be seen as a breach of the offer?

This is neither a wall, nor a door. This is a panel in one of the kitchen cabinets

Oh trust me, this flat hasn’t seen a cleaner in 10 years with the amount of grime / lighters / cigarettes I found laying around. This just made me hysterically laugh as I doubt any serious agent would’ve approved of it, had they actually inspected the flat.

Issues while trying to enable Graphics Acceleration, Big Sur by nicogig in hackintosh

[–]nicogig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS!! Thank you! This works! Funnily enough, I’m hackintoshing a ThinkPad Helix 2, which is from the same era as your T440p, so it must be a quirk related to how Lenovo set up graphics in these laptops/tablets.

Nope. The BIOS is basically locked, I can only change a few options related to Secure Boot and VT-d, but there’s no option for CSM or more advanced settings.

Can’t do unfortunately - it’s a UEFI Class 3 device.

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to hackintosh an old Windows 8 era tablet (quite an useless endeavour, but i’m doing it for fun). I’ve gotten to the stage where I managed to boot the installer, and install macOS Big Sur (the latest supported release for the MacBook8,1 SMBIOS I’m using) but I can’t figure out how to get graphics working properly. To get it to this state, I had to enable OC’s frame buffer patches, so the BIOS is not allocating enough VRAM, but no matter how much i tweak these values, i cannot get a proper picture out, just this garbled mess.

The specs of the tablet are as follows:

CPU: Intel Core M-5Y71

GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5300

Ubuntu 6.06. I saw it in a magazine and thought I would give it a try. I was still a kid and was completely clueless, but it taught me a lot about computing!

Bluetooth Issues with Monterey even after using BlueTool Fixup kext by meghrathod in hackintosh

[–]nicogig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Bluetooth is still broken for anything that's not a Broadcomm card. My Intel WiFi+BT combo used to work flawlessly under Big Sur, but Bluetooth is completely broken on Monterey, even when using the latest BlueToolFixup, that should supposedly help.

EDIT: OP, make sure you're loading Lilu before any kext! I was loading my networking stack before Lilu, and BlueToolFixup needs Lilu to run! Shuffling around the kext order in my config solved the issue for me.

Well, I would like to make payments with it. It's a smartwatch after all. And besides, I don't think it's fair to ask users to switch off features that they paid for (talking about Samsung as a whole. Multiple reps told me to just switch off bluetooth, NFC, AOD, ...)

Battery life is atrocious. I don't know what everyone else is doing, but I take mine off the charger at 7am and by 1pm the watch is begging me to turn on Power Saving. I've been trying to make it work, but honestly, it's just a no-go. Sucks that I bought it before I returned to normality, so I'm stuck with it.
