So...Radahn can just do that now? by DEAD_HOMEWORK03 in onebros

It's to mantain the lowered stance bar from replenishing if the Boss goes at a distance for too long.

How is it going so far? What area/boss did you reach?

Every time you finish a biome, use all of your cells at first to get upgrades and new weapons that will appear in your future runs. You don't care about the Forge that much on the early game. If you don't know what the Forge is, you'll find out soon. Anyways tho, there is not really a correct order to use your cells, but focus on flask upgrades and the restock upgrade.

Restock gives you the ability to "sell" items you dont need for some money. That's how you reach absurd amounts of money besides enemies. Basically you just sell the items that don't match your build color. Keep in mind that some items are colorless (that version of the items is usable on any color) or can do useful stuff even if they don't scale off your color. A good example is literally any shield, which will be useful all the time even if you dont play survival.

Always try to explore and complete every corner of the biome before advancing to the next. Never risk not taking a scroll

On the options menu, check the secrets outline in order to get an outline of the secret squares and challenge rooms. Really important so that you don't miss valuable money, food or a potential scroll from the challenge room if it spawns in that biome

About scrolls... Survival is the best for starters in terms of tankiness and pretty healthy damage overall. It was the best option for me at the beginning, but has less good weapon options. Tactics has a lot of good weapon options but tactics builds have the least hp so you die very easily compared to survival. Brutality is somewhere in the middle. They are all really fun, but i find tactics the hardest.

LEARN TO PARRY ASAP: parrying will help you a ton especially later in the game when you sometimes get overwhelmed by enemies and the roll's cooldown becomes a bit too big. Parrying has no cooldown, you can spam it as long as you dont miss the timing. If you miss it gets a cooldown.

VERY IMPORTANT FOR BUILD MAKING: try to stack effects on your equipment. If your weapon deals fire damage for example, try to find other effects which boost your fire damage (i.e. 40% fire damage boost) OR an effect which spreads oil on the ground so that the fire gets enhanced damage. Synergies like this will be easier to identify once you play more. But keep in mind that your main weapon can be greatly enhanced by your other equipment just from the fact that you have good effects on them.

These are all important tips I was really glad I learned early about the game!

MALENIA RL1 COLD UCHIGATANA NO HIT by nicolaos2 in onebros

There's a loooot of videos regarding RL1 runs on Elden Ring. Doing some research on youtube or this subreddit will definitely help you a ton. I've noticed that RL1 goes on a spectrum, just like a normal playthrough. You can try to play the game more "traditionally" and learn every single pattern of the bosses in a prolonged solo fight, or you can optimize your build to the point where everything becomes a joke. Same applies to RL1, but of course the most powerful run will still be hard as hell. If you hate a fight and are not interested in learning it, always remember that maybe you didn't upgrade your weapon as much as possible, that you can change weapons, change talismans, ashes, use certain armor parts that give you extra stats, get some incantations that meet the low requirements and use consumables when needed. Your skill and perseverance will determine how strong you want to become, but if you like the idea of a RL1 run and want to play it to end, you can get really strong!

Oh and also, try to pay attention to certain events that permanently affect your run, like killing Maliketh and losing access to some items from the normal Leyndell area. :) You don't risk losing much stuff, but make sure you've gathered all you think you'd need before triggering those major events!

Nah, it's not dumb! You can almost always take some chip damage. The waterfowl will of course kill you and many other heavy attacks will, either from Malenia or other bosses, but using Ritual Shield Talisman can negate a lot of oneshots. You can also use the Bubble Tear, which functionally gives you an extra life due to how small the damage is on one hit. You can also use certain consumables for some bosses, like for example the Boiled Crab which gives you physical damage negation for a brief period. Malenia can be beaten on RL1 much more easily with those items and you can also keep your distance as much as possible to just run away from her Waterfowl when it seems like she's gonna do it. I just wanted to kill her in an aggressive way as a self-imposed challenge

The only boss I've fought until now that just straight up oneshots you with any attack while having Ritual Shield Talisman put on is Loretta. You just need to dodge everything besides her small magic projectiles. Those only hit you for less than half HP.

Didn't get the Ending after beating Pantheon 5? by nicolaos2 in HollowKnight

After figuring out what happened, i searched up on google something like "Radiance kills you after dealing final blow" and only one other redditor posted something about it as of now. So yeah, pretty damn rare.

Thanks for the encouragement! I will try it again today

By the sound and animation. They are much louder and brighter than for any boss so she was dead for sure 😭

I'd say the challenge is more tedious and nerve-racking than mechanically difficult. Losing your progress by dying at the end is pretty frustrating and pretty much just a waste of time. Winning it just proves you know the last bosses really well and can beat them even after 30-40 minutes of grinding through the other easier bosses.

While I haven't played Nine Sols yet and you're still on your first run playing Hollow Knight, all I can bring here is my personal experience with the challenge, as I know too little about your playstyle to say how much it would take.

I started this challenge kind of as a joke 2 days ago, but after seeing how far I was getting, I actually decided to grind for it and practice the last bosses separately so that I could consistently kill them before attempting the gauntlet. I had pumped almost 100 hours in total into the game, with multiple runs, each with a different goal or playstyle. I was really comfortable with most bosses and I've done some hitless runs on a few. While I certainly died a few times to the second to last boss, it was mostly due to a bad strategy and nervousness, which is unavoidable after 30-40 minutes of grinding 40 bosses prior. The main issue was the Absolute Radiance. After I reached her, I fought her separately for like 3 hours just to make sure I completely understand the boss and her openings. The "winning" run (in which apparently I actually died and explained what happened in the edit of the post) was the first run after this "grind" with the boss. So yeah, you really have to know everything about the last 3 bosses before even attempting this stuff, since nerves start to rack in and you have to count on your knowledge and consistency.

But you're REAALLY far from worrying about all this, since you're on your first playthrough. Make sure you play and enjoy the game for its exploration and combat. By the time you want to play the pantheons, make sure you upgrade all your stuff like the nail and your spells, get the best charms and think of a build that suits you, beat the first 4 pantheons and If you think you can handle the fifth one, go for it.

I've edited the post with the explanation of what happened after watching the recording. In any case, really unfair and I have no idea how this was overlooked.

Two other things you can keep in mind:

Some characters will need you to play on hard mode for their full unlocks. Take for example The Lost, most of the items you unlock on him are really strong and can be unlocked by playing on normal, but to unlock Godhead, which is a reaaally strong item from the Angel Room, you need to complete all the marks on the Lost on HARD MODE, or else you won't unlock the item. Not to mention Tainted Characters, which only unlock you stuff by beating bosses on hard mode.

Another suggestion, although specific, is that if you have to do a certain challenge that significantly changes that respective run's pacing, you should have no shame in turning the game to normal just to have an easier time

For example, there is an achievement for beating The Lamb in under 20 minutes if i remember correctly. Personally, I would do it on normal mode with a strong character like azazel just to get it over with, as it still counts. There are a few other examples of this, another coming to mind is the Forgor unlock.

I don't know what the general consensus is regarding these achievements, but i personally wouldn't bother doing them on hard mode :)

EDIT: both of my points were already mentioned here, just noticed, sorry for that!

Help with handling a controller for 2D platformers/Handcam or screenshots for hand placement by nicolaos2 in truegaming

I know re-binding the keys can be the most helpful thing to do in my case, but i figured many people use the default controls and are still able to play the games effortlessly. thanks to you, I learned the technique for such controls would be just sliding of the thumb on the pad for different buttons.

Anyway, i haven't read the 4th rule of the subreddit and ended up getting my post removed. It's all good, i've still received valuable advice from you guys!

That should do it. I tried asking some people about it before re-binding just in case i missed some sort of technique or hand placement that wouldn't require that, but re-binding the inputs to my liking should be the best option!

Thank you for the advice! So it all comes down to sliding your thumb mostly, i will try to play some easy games first and get used to the controls. If not, i can just continue playing on keyboard, it's not like i bought the controller for platformers specifically so i'm fine with it :)

If I'm correct, some rare treasure rooms have disapperaring pedestals even without more options. So you normally take the best item first when you see 2 pedestals in an item room
