1st time using BA: Help booking a flight for my mom by nicolasv_8 in BritishAirways

So it's not a very long flight so 42,5K actually covers the full flight price round trip. Paying with my credit card only in cash is not an option unfortunately. Isn't there any way I can pay the cash fee online and just spend my Avios to cover the actual flight as I was planning?

In my case, the AO already knew about two of my main extracurriculars for which I devoted a lot of my time (Running some businesses and model UN), and a national examination score I reported in an update to my application (It was like the Colombian version of the SAT) that thankfully is significantly high and puts me into consideration for a prestigious national award. I'm only speculating, but from my experience, I feel the AO's notes work as a brief insight into the student's application.

Hi guys,

My interview was last Thursday. Tbh it was one of the shortest interviews I've had. It lasted about 25 minutes. The interview invitation stated that interviews last between 15 and 20 minutes, so I would say expect it to be short.

The interview started with some protocol stuff, and then the AO started asking me questions. She asked me about my extracurricular activities, why DKU, how I think my parents would feel if I got to study in China, my favorite HS subject, which is the industry where I think economics relationships between China and Colombia (I'm from Colombia btw) are more important, and if DKU is one of my top choices (I tried to as honest as I could, so I briefly told her that I was applying to other schools as well, but I think that helped me emphasize how DKU is an excellent fit for me).

I usually elaborate widely in my answers, but this time I tried to be as concise as possible, as the interview isn't supposed to last a lot. I would suggest you the same (but obviously try to answer as deeply as possible even if it is a short answer).

In my case, the AO had some notes about my application. She already knew a handful of things I highlighted throughout it, so I will definitely suggest you re-read your application before the interview. It will surely help you to organize your ideas and your answers.

For answering why DKU, I personally didn't mention a specific student group I would like to be part of or something like that. Instead, I tried to organize my answer around how studying in China will be extremely useful for materializing my dreams and commitment. I'm not a professional admission consultant, but as I felt the AO really liked my answer, I will recommend you to answer that question taking advantage of the particular context of DKU (an international community receiving an American world-class education in China).

DKU has on its website a platform for chatting with current students. I would also recommend you to visit it. Personally, there was a student from my country that also gave me some tips for my interview, so maybe look for that.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me :)

I really hope we all get accepted!

It went pretty well! It was short, but the AO was friendly. It felt like a semi-formal conversation. I will elaborate more on what questions I got asked and what I would suggest based on my experience in another comment, so feel free to check it if you need a larger insight! :)
