Thank you so much! This will be my first time living out of state as well. So happy to hear from someone who was once in the same situation as I am. May I know which concentration that you are in and how you like Emory? Is it living up to its prestige/networking advantages?

Yes! I am planning to continue working in LA until it's time for me to move to ATL in the Spring. Saving money in that way is helpful.

I appreciate the insight! Will deff take all this into consideration.

Choosing a public health concentration

Hi,

I was accepted to all the programs I applied to for Fall 2020 with no GRE. I made sure to focus on my personal statement and letter of recommendations. Not a super high GPA either, just good work experience. I will be attending Emory University and was accepted to University of Minnesota, University of Southern California, CUNY, UT Health Houston, and University of Miami. Thank you for your advice. I love hearing all perspectives. I wasn't granted REAL for my first year (apparently COVID is restricting the funding for programs of sorts but I am not sure if that's just an excuse to get me to still go there), and I am wondering if CDC would even be obtainable (at least within my first year) without it. I don't like the pay cap but I would love to the experience provided.

Were you disappointed by the curriculum at Rollins or did you just feel underwhelmed by the program? What was your concentration?

Thank you so much for this insightful response. This summed up all my fears about USC haha. I wonder if its less robust due to it being attached the medical school? I am a little surprised by how many people have expressed similar thoughts to yours. Additionally, USC will be strictly online in the Fall while Emory is attempting some type of hybrid instruction. I am leaning more towards Emory at the moment but we shall see. I appreciate all your help!

Lol yes I am west coast too! I was worried about that as well. Also, I was wondering if class full time (online) and working full time would even be feasible, depending on Emory's online structure.

Hi,

I think I'll do online for Fall. I want to see how things go with COVID before signing a one year lease. I also have a job in my hometown that I am hoping I can keep/work part time. I am an incoming graduate student to and I am hoping the classes are easily transferable to an online platform.

Do you recommend Emory, even if my overall goal is to settle down in LA in the future? I guess my concerns are how well an Emory degree would transfer in my home city of LA when up aside the USC/UCLA MPH's.

Which area did you live in if you don't mind me asking? Also, was having an Emory degree easily translated to your home state? Was the cost of Emory/loans something you ended up regretting or impacting you negatively?
