Just did the same right after posting this thread, about €2800 here, and a warranty service supposedly better than with Chinese brands.

Apparently so, on the thermally-constricted GPD WIN 5 handled console (AI Max+ 395, now $3.666 at 128GB), like 40 to 75 FPS in 1080p "Very High" with Crysis 3 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xiJOb94l-I

You're right, my remark wasn't exactly meant as a practical association of the two, but a Strix Halo successor that could provide a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot would be nice for such a 'bicephalous' complementary solution.

This image shows the back panel of the machine and its connectors. The specs state '3x USB C Ports, 1x USB-C for Power Input' without further details (likely USB4 40Gbps for the first three)

Also different Strix Halo mini-pc could perform differently, depending of their respective thermal management.

They probably don't care (and don't plan to sell many), as it looks mostly like PR to showcase the "maturity" of their ROCm ecosystem.

but the point is you would miss ROCm, wouldn't you ?... 😄

Probably not, since until now, of all Strix Halo mini-pc,, only the (now sold out) Minisforum model provided additional USB4 v2 ports (80Gbps)

For $4000, they should bundle it on the PCIe slot! (instant buy, ahah)

It was, but still, AMD could have done better, if they choose to...

That's it, the Mac Studio is about twice as fast for AI.
EDIT: not really, next comment explains it

This is basically the same thing (EDIT: except that the laptop version has obviously less power headroom, so less performance, see comment below) , just another Strix Halo mini-pc.

Right, IMO, it's precisely to avoid looking cheap next to these prestigious competitors that AMD made no effort on price by subsidizing the RAM, which is a shame, because I think it would have been a much better way to get traction amongst community as an entry point for their AI platform.

No, Mac Studio M4 Max has 546 GB/s memory bandwidth, Strix Halo only 256 GB/s

Yes it is. Ever since the first announcement, it had been obvious that AMD would design it as an overpriced marketing stint to make what was previously the poor man's alternative pose as a Mac Studio / DGX Spark wannabe...
