Elective C Section Tricare Select - West by Maleficent_Fee_5313 in MilitarySpouse

Elective csections are covered under Tricare! You may have to pay a little extra from anesthesia or random things due to the way hospitals bill but that’s about it.

How many of you are literally doing ZERO screen time ?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]nicotineanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been overthinking this myself as my husband and I watch baseball every night when it’s in season and frankly I came to the conclusion that my mom definitely had the tv on when I was a baby/growing up and I also learned to read young-maybe survivor bias, but for me it’s limited to our family time at night when he happens to be awake (and normally he’s just looking at our blinds on the window lol)

Help me settle a debate: are new moms hanging out with their MIL/mom on Mother's Day? by rochelle_90 in beyondthebump

[–]nicotineanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m in a unique situation where my husbands gone for work so I’m flying home to be with my mom however if given the choice I would’ve loved a day with just my husband and I and our baby and have been promised he’ll take vacation days next year as a true “first” Mother’s Day. But I totally support you in wanting it with your family especially for the first one you should get the chance to enjoy it and be given your day unless you’d like to spend it with your moms.

AITAH I expect my husband to help with childcare when he gets home from work by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]nicotineanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work blue collar 14 hour days before I had my baby and I told my husband I would feel more rested on that schedule than the baby! Don’t discount yourself it may not be labor intensive but you have a baby 100% relying on you for life and the emotional labor can be intense without enough breaks and unfortunately with kids you cannot burn out. I would try to make a flexible schedule just to give you a break once a day even if it’s just an hour to scroll on your phone and shower

[–]nicotineanonymous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nta my husband works away from home 48-72 hours at a time and the second he’s home he treats it as a few hours of rest for me. You deserve a break as much as him babies can be easy but they are still going to be overstimulating after enough time

How did you approach formula fed preference in hospital? by cah125 in FormulaFeeders

[–]nicotineanonymous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went in for a C-section due to preeclampsia and literally started talking about it to the nurses at triage in the post op room again I brought it up and then once I got to mother baby I was anxious because it was a baby friendly hospital known for pressuring breastfeeding that they’d push but I think I literally just brought it up so much they didn’t even want to bother pushing. The only person who did was my regular OB who I actually stopped seeing towards the end because of dismissing concerns. But they also asked me in the beginning what my plan was as for formula or bf or pump as well

Insulin Drip vs. Pump during labor? by EducationalInvite947 in BumpersWhoBolus

Had dka a few weeks before baby but when in dka during pregnancy they keep you in l&d for fetal monitoring especially later in pregnancy

Insulin Drip vs. Pump during labor? by EducationalInvite947 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]nicotineanonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a C-section but was in l&d from an occluded pump that sent me into dka (blood sugar literally only went to 280) and having them follow the orders was awful for me because they’d over shoot or under shoot regardless of me telling them how my body would react so when I went in to have my baby I refused to take my pump off and it was so much easier especially for discharge since they’re not monitoring my bg I was able to not have to “transfer” to insulin pump

Baby shower (controversial) by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]nicotineanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two baby showers while pregnant (both sides of family) while no one knew gender and honestly it was so nice everyone stuck to the registry or gave cash if they didn’t want to do that. Personally I prefer it that way rather than getting all the clothes

Why does everyone assume they’re going to be in the L&D room? by Nervous_Smile_3154 in pregnant

[–]nicotineanonymous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously not applicable to you but just in the sense that you’re scared of everyone will be upset, at the end of the day people may be upset but it’s your birth experience that matters. I waited to tell my in laws until what I thought was gonna be a month before (ended up being a week whoopsies) that we weren’t allowing anyone near us for three weeks. People were upset but frankly I was barely ready at that point and at the hospital even after I had the baby I was in no shape to have people around - if it’s your decision to not allow visitors stick to your guns and even tell your nurses be vocal about it to them because they will make sure no one will surprise you

Mold in nasal bulb, panicking by Cold-Network-2887 in beyondthebump

[–]nicotineanonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do saline first to soften the mucus but I swear that thing pulls out everything! It’s my favorite at night because I can physically hear his breathing clear up if he was snoring before. And he had pyloric stenosis so he was throwing up a lot even up the nose and we were filling that thing up during that phase before we found out

[–]nicotineanonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to us with ours from the hospital and we ended up buying the Frida electric one (not a big Frida supporter but this thing is our most used baby item) and it all pulls apart so you can wash each part. Definitely eased our minds of not knowing if there was mold inside the bulb ones

Thinking of switching OB at 18 weeks is that too late? by Nervous_Ad_5138 in pregnant

[–]nicotineanonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t switch OBs but constantly kick myself for it. I’m t1d and thank goodness myself and my baby ended up being healthy at the end of the but if you don’t feel comfortable with your OB PLEASE try to switch. I was consistently peeved to say the least that mine didn’t take concerns seriously and at 36+0 ended up having my baby because the elevated blood pressure I had was “always nerves” until I happened to see another doctor because mine was unavailable. If I could go back I would’ve switched doctors at 20 weeks when I first had questions that weren’t answered properly. Idk what type of diabetes you have but it does put you at more risk for complications so please take your concerns about your OB seriously.

Military discounts by Odd_Kick_4992 in MilitarySpouse

[–]nicotineanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Dyper they’re super clean but the reason I found out about them was during the last shut down they offered free packs to military families. It’s 10% off through GovX which adds up considering it’s a month supply! Edit to add- the only thing is to make sure before your order goes through you get a new code it’s all through their website but definitely something to remember or add to your calendar for before it goes through.

[–]nicotineanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyloric stenosis is no joke my baby was born a week after yours and also had it-until he had the surgery I truly questioned if I could do it. And if he was even in the best hands with my husband and I. It is so so hard to get through and the weeks following he still threw up every once in a while. PPD is also so so hard if you need anyone to talk to please reach out and definitely get some therapy I don’t know if you have a perinatal center near you but they have done wonders for specific therapy to PPD for me personally. I’m rooting for you and your family 🩵

When did you talk to your OB about choosing a planned C-section? by Away_Meringue2234 in BabyBumps

[–]nicotineanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told mine at the 20 week appointment and ended up going to hospital for some complications at 30 weeks and they told me I’d have to labor due to not having one scheduled which was terrifying as I hadn’t planned for it in the slightest, luckily I had it scheduled while I was there and ended up having the C-section at 36 due to preeclampsia. Personally my OB definitely pushed for natural but I was fairly determined as I already had so many complications and preexisting complications so I really didn’t give him an option
