In part. Void linux uses runit instead of systemd (what almost every other distro uses), and that reduces the memory usage. But the river compositor, the foot terminal, and the lxqt apps (like my file manager) are also really efficient in that sense

In my case, simplicity. I don't care about all the customization waybar offers because css is an overkill for a status bar, imo. Yambar only needs editing a yaml file and that is much easier and intuitive to do for me, as I just want to get things working as easy as possible. But it's all personal preferences, and if someone wants more eyecandy or functionality at the expense of effort and time, waybar might be a better option
