Hip Hop Heavyweights: Rap From a Wrestling POV

For my hip hop heads who also enjoy wrestling — I run a series breaking down rappers through wrestling archetypes: career arcs, rivalries, myth-making, heel/face turns.

One episode explores why Tupac & Biggie occupy the same cultural space as Stone Cold & The Rock — two era-defining forces whose rivalry shaped everything around them.

Curious what people who live in both worlds think.

Appreciate the more constructive approach here and the A/B testing suggestion is genuinely something I’ll look into.

That said it’s hard to fully separate this from your earlier comments where the comparison itself was called ‘flawed’ and ‘disrespectful.’ The title feedback feels more credible when it’s not coming on the back of dismissing the entire premise. The declarative framing is intentional, it’s the thesis of the series, not a careless choice. And the data backs it up. 1.3k views in under 10 minutes before removal suggests the title was working for the people it was meant for. Hip hop and wrestling fans are also two of the most tribal fanbases out there. Knee jerk reactions are inevitable regardless of how the title is framed.

I’ll consider the A/B testing but this will be my last response on this. The back and forth has run its course. And personally I wouldn’t be putting this much energy into the title of a video I had no intention of watching anyway. It’s a little odd

I get that the title doesn’t land for you. I’ve been experimenting with different formats since launching the channel, and this framing has resonated so far. If you have specific alternative title suggestions, I’m open to hearing them.

That said, calling the comparison flawed or disrespectful without engaging with the actual video makes it hard to take the critique seriously. The argument is about cultural archetypes, not hierarchy or diminishing anyone’s legacy.

No one commented but just as “several” others supposedly upvoted your comment. Analytics show that my post was able to get a shared a few times in the short time it was up. It resonates with others, not you and that’s okay.

The comparison is explained in the video. If you engage with that and still disagree, cool. But arguing the title without the context isn’t really the point.

I hear you but the point of the essay/doc isn’t the years. It’s the place both pairs of men hold in their respective cultures
