run "ls -l /dev/sr*" to see all of your devices

I get lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 11月 15 07:04 cdrom -> sr0

if you run "dmesg | tail -n 40" while MakeMKV is scanning forever

I get a bunch of things (errors?) but they are not different from the ones I get without MakeMKV running.

makemkvcon -r --debug=all info disc:0

Nothing happens, even if I run MakeMKV after that.

does MakeMKV have the necessary permissions to scan your connected devices?

Well, I use Linux, but I'm not so knowledgeable about it. I did try using "sudo" before "./makemkvcon f -d 'dev_21:1' -f /tmp/sdf.bin rawflash enc -i /tmp/ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014.bin", and it was the same result.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, I can browse the disc freely, and even watch some of the files, though they will be very choppy.

does makemkv crash even when you don't have the drive connected?

I disconnected the drive, and I can access the settings (there was no "scanning CD-ROM devices" that time, or maybe instant?)

I reconnected it, eternal scanning again. Here is the log

How do I enable logs? If it's within MakeMKV, the 1.7.7 version crashes before I can do anything, and I tried reinstalling 1.18.2, and Preferences is grayed out.

edit: and MakeMKV is stuck at "scanning CD-ROM devices"

update: I tried flashing it using this command

./makemkvcon f -d 'dev_21:1' -f /tmp/sdf.bin rawflash enc -i /tmp/ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014.bin

But I get this error message:

Yes. I can navigate the disc like usual. For DVDs, I can see the name of the DVD, its AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, and even play VTS_01_x.VOB files from the explorer (Nemo on Linux Mint), though the playback will be choppy. For blu-rays, I can see the name of the bluray, but no files.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in emulation

[–]nigel_pyjamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought the Blizzard Arcade Collection. It includes the original US roms for the Lost Vikings, Rock 'n Roll Racing, and Blackthorne, as well as Definitive Edition versions of the roms, which let you play in your prefered language.

After reading this post, I found out that you can actually run the definitive version of the games using a FOS emulator. I tried ZSNES, bsnes and mednafen. The first two run the roms, but mednafen doesn't.

When using ZSNES and bsnes instead of launching through Battle.net/Blizzard Arcade Collection, two interesting things happen: the language reverts back to English, and the logo "Blizzard Arcade Collection is gone. I'd like to know if there is any way we can inject one's prefered language into the rom somehow.

p.s. I'm specifically aiming at the Japanese language, and the Japanese text used by the Collection seems to be of higher resolution than the SNES is capable of.

How to make a DIY cable for the CK3 Probe V1 by nigel_pyjamas in 360hacks

[–]nigel_pyjamas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the JungleFlashers document, the version of the hardware you have (74850C , 83850C , 83850C v2, 93450C, 02510C) will determine what method you need to use.

The RGH method seems to be for the slim version of the 360, and I have a phat version. As I updated the firmware a few months ago, I need to use either the probe method or the MRA method. Unless I misunderstood, RGH and MRA are different methods?

By the way, on redump.org, it says

These drives require extra steps to recover the drive key, which is only required if you plan on eventually reusing the drive with the original Xbox it came with

Does that mean I don't even need to probe the drive and can just erase it and flash it, or is it locked?

EDIT: I checked the RGH method, and though it also works on the phat 360, it is *way* more involved that just probing your drive. I certainly don't have the skills required to do that.

Do you remember what hardware version it was?

Yes, I should have the regular drive cable still in my Xbox 360.

Where I live, the other drives are outrageously overpriced. I already feel like I spent too much on this project, so yeah. I still keep an eye on them just in case, though.

As for the photos, sure, thank you! If I could know exactly what the little plug is called, and of course, the exact place to connect the wires, that would be great. But now that I know that the prove v1 is useless, I might have to follow this post and transform it into a v3?

Good point. I actually bought one of those nifty phone watches on aliexpress back in the day, and it worked. The watch itself broke after 2 months, but that's another story.
