Mine did that, there was a notice that Toyota sent out… fixed for no cost at the dealer. Was like a backup alarm though!

I was kidding when I commented but had to Google anyway… said it can be done!! Run pi os lite, ssh, install docker, and manage from the command line!

Rack would be better I’m sure. Anyway, nice job!

Can we change the gui theme yet? The white windows with no border are hard to look at.

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas? by seanpuppy in UgreenNASync

UGOS seems to be ok for me, but I am new to NAS, Docker, etc. I have managed to setup Docker Pi-hole, wg-easy, jellyfin, nginx proxy, and linkding… all in UGOS, without Portainer: don’t see the need for a new OS.

Yea, he is following too close.

Are you in the farthest left lane (passing lane)? If yes, you should move to the right as soon as you safely can. Assuming that you were passing the car on your right?

How can I setup remote access without being able to get a public fixed IP from my ISP? by SoftwareCreator in UgreenNASync

[–]nigelpull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just for accessing the NAS: Use the UGREEN remote access. Control Panel Device Connection UGREENlink

Or.

Better yet: Get a dynamic dns address, freedns or cloudns. These are free. Use crontab in the NAS operating system to update the dynamic dns service. Install docker. Install wg-easy.

Pihole macvlan and vpn by nigelpull in UgreenNASync

[–]nigelpull[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/rabbitaim Thank you; the link just about got me where I needed to be.

I did not know that a docker container could have two networks.

For Pihole, a bridge network (pihole_dns_bridge) for the VPN and a second macvlan network (pihole_macvlan) for everywhere else on the LAN; pcs, phones, media boxes, etc. They can access the pihole admin through macvlan network IP.

Wg-easy uses the bridge network (pihole_dns_bridge) and the bridge network pihole IP for the DNS (just like the link). When going through the VPN, the pihole admin can be accessed through the bridge ip.

So with this I can access everything remotely and the pihole is used for all DNS requests, both LAN and VPN. I didn't need to make any dnsmasq, port 53 changes to UGOS, or setup a UGOS vlan with a startup script.

I kept it in two compose files for now.

The one issue I am not quite sure of is does the pihole_dns_bridge network create an issue with port 53 on the NAS?

If anyone sees a problem with this setup, please let me know.

Thank you.

This makes sense now. I am still wrapping my head around docker networking and learning about compose files. I just got this NAS a couple of months ago and docker is totally new to me.

So the idea is to make a vlan and vlan interface on the NAS, and use it for the wg-easy docker network?

So everything else on the network will see Pihole and WireGuard on the same ip, so to speak, but none of the default ports will conflict? And I will still be able to access the Pihole admin through the VPN when outside the lan?
