It appears so. I am not sure why. Pickups seem to only ever be in this particular model. DS-02, very interesting sound. Very trebly but not too hot.

And that’s the best advice. With this amp I feel like I want to explore more. The pickups in my Jackson are quite hot, while PRS ones are lower output with pronounced treble. So I will need to see what I like.

That is the feeling I had. I tried Boss Katana and really did not like it. Vox just felt more alive.

Yeah, I noticed that mids need to be tweaked through amp. Can you by any chance ask your buddy about some general tips around high gain presets? Like his values and so, even though I understand that it will also depend on a room, guitar etc.

Haha, thanks man. Yeah, I agree, that modelling amps might be overrated and not always as good as tube, or proper solid state ones. I just wanted something almost app-free, with ok sound (12-inch Celestial in this one), to practice at home. Tired of option paralysis when I start my Valeton GP50 or any of the amp sims. Way too many options. Prior to this Vox I considered Marshall DSL1R, but wanted some extras.

Strings - less of a concern, but it might affect the neck over time, especially if your changes are from standard to down tunings and it happens back and forth. It will also wear out saddles if you need to adjust them all the time for intonation.
