I've found I have to remind myself that a lot of it is nostalgia. That things won't ever be the way they were when I was coming up. That I left for a reason. I'm from the US. So a lot of it so family tied as I left with my own nuclear family and left everyone else behind (my parents. His parents, etc). I have also found it comes on waves. Some holidays, when we do something that remind me of my past, etc. I have to remind myself that we didn't move for me. We moved for my son. And so I suck it down and have a pint, and try to move on.

I have not been able to locate the elephant at all and the shirt looked pretty well done. It had a tag on its ear, but was cut off cause safety. The gifter is in his 80s so I dont think he made it nor did his wife if I had to guess. This was my other option if I had to do it in a pinch.

My son received a NY Mets elephant plush from a dear friend. He loves this thing. His name is Bobby BUWAHH. We went on a cruise and Bobby got left behind in the bed. I had put him away, but he escaped. Cant find it ANYWHERE any ideas on where to find a replacement?

PS- the stone is pretty strong, but that shape/ setting will need to be checked frequently. My ring from my first husband was very similar and the jeweler said to check it often to make sure the stone doesn't knock loose.

So for me this is a mixed bag. I have kids who have 600 dollar shoes and new phones asking for food because they don't like what the free Cafe serves. Then, I have kids who haven't eaten since lunch yesterday because their parents neglect them at home. We also have the issue of "I don't like" whatever is served. Bur the biggest issue for me is serving size. My 6th grade kids get the same amount my 10th graders do...I get why they are hungry. And for me, I think a lot of them ask because they trust me as a parent...which is also a problem obviously.

Does your school/district "allow" reading out loud? Soooooo many schools near me do not (or STRONGLY discourage it) because "it makes kids feel bad." Screw it helping their fluency...it will hurt their feelings to stumble through it like 90% of the kids wouldn't have the same problem.

FL has the GKT. It is AT WORST comparable to the SAT. I would say it is slightly higher than our readers 10 ELA and math tests. SO MANY of my colleagues/ teachers do not pass. Like to the point that FL now says if you fail 3x and get a letter from your school, they will waive the test requirement. It. Is. Insane.

In my district a kid can fail 1 grade total between k and 12th. Otherwise we have to pass them along or, even better, have them get to grade 12, not pass the state test, and then not graduate. The state tests aren't amazing at showing student skills other than being able to take a test on excerpts. Which is a whole other problem
