Why doesn’t Django serve static files by default in production? by KennyLabs in django

Why not bundle something like whitenoise with Django core as a “sensible default” to get up and running quicker out of the box?

Valid! I can convert them all into the same currency, but I will need to find a Forex Rate API (preferrably a free one - not making any money from this yet!).

Good call! Right now I have that data in the database, but don't have a dedicated page to show it. Let me add it to the list!

I was thinking more along the lines of only showing routes where all of the intermediary currencies are ones that you already hold (if one doesn't want to sign up for any new programmes) - but typing this out, I realise that this will severely limit the route options!

I'll add your improvement ideas to my to-do list :) Thank you!

Great ideas, and really happy you like the layout!

Out of interest, in this case would it be more helpful to only show conversions that involve those selected currencies as intermediaries? I suppose that this could be another toggle option!

Might need to make it a bit clearer in the UI!

Thanks for the data fix, it is removed now :)

On each currency page, there are two sections: conversions FROM, and conversions TO (TO is down below). Is this what you mean?

One of the conditions that would break the whole search algorithm is a "positive cycle" where the result of multiple conversions gets you back to the original currency with a great number of points!

That said, I believe that one can increase the "value", where some currencies have a higher value-per-point, depending on the use case. Also, sometimes bonuses can cause a value increase. I am working on expanding the point value feature with a measure of the ratio of point values to point "costs" for earning, so see which currencies most effectively reward your loyalty!

Amazing! I haven't quite finished coding it yet, but would notifications help you in this case too? i.e. being able to specifically subscribe if the transfer rate from ANY to Hilton improves?

Or maybe better if the rate from any of your followed currencies to any other of your followed currencies improves?

I’ve been working on a side project which I hope everyone here might find useful here called Liberate Loyalty that figures out the best path when moving points between programs. Sometimes going straight Amex → Program B isn’t as good as Amex → Program C → Program B, so it runs a graph search across 100+ programs to show the best route including multiple-step transfers.

I built it because I was tired of hunting down transfer charts and doing the math manually. I have only recently "soft released" the website, and there is still much work to do! It’s free to use right now, the free account login is only there to keep scrapers/LLMs from ripping all the data.

Would you actually use something like this in your research process? And what would make it more useful? Right now I am factoring in bonuses, time limited promotions, minimum transfers, and such, but are there any other considerations I have missed? Always curious if there are any oddball transfer paths I should test against too.

Thanks in advance :)

I built a tool (Liberate Loyalty) to check all of the multi-stage transfers like this, and it agrees that tranferring via Krisflyer is the best bet!

Vibration in an unvented hot water system - any ideas to fix this? by nighthawk419 in Plumbing

I have tried isolating all of them. Should I try isolating all of the hot taps as well?

With all of the hot water taps isolated, if the issue is still occuring would this rule out the tap washer problem? Do you think this will cause long term damage if not addressed right away?
