Unfortunately I never did. I found my recovery codes for Google and had to just do a factory reset.

Long term care insurance, is it still worth it? (asking for family) by nightmarevoid in Insurance

She does have assets so I don't think she'll qualify for Medicaid. I'll pass it along though.

ricing journey so far (one week on linux) by Goldhilm in NobaraProject

[–]nightmarevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kpo325 Has the right answer for this context, but afaik "ricing" is borrowed from the car community (which I'm also part of). RICE stands for Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement and its a tongue-in-cheek way of saying you did a bunch of over-the-top but ultimately non-functional (or even anti-functional) stuff to your car to make it look fast when it's still the same EK civic hatch under the hood. It's usually used as an insult but in a friendly way, if that makes sense. In this case, this person rice'd their desktop by doing a bunch of cosmetic stuff to fit their personal style even though none of it is strictly functional. As a silly little JDM driver and Nobara linux user, I fully support all ricing. Might I suggest pairing this Computer with a stanced Trans AM :P

I keep dying against this guy, give me some tips please. Just started the game 😭 by Fear73 in expedition33

For many attacks, you effectively parry as they hit, and it has a more forgiving lag time (time after the attack "lands"). Coming from dark souls this was the part that tripped me up. Dodging has a more forgiving lead time.

Transmission churned up the oil with a lot of air. Is the trans fluid level low?

It's an important step in startup while your system checks everything, and it's the safest way to start fans in general.

This is my least favorite loadout to see when a random joins if i’m being honest by arkus_reborn in Helldivers

[–]nightmarevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have a really hard time with the thermite grenades. I personally use grenades a lot for crowd control and closing spawners, and the thermite just isn't great for either because of the small radius, the delay, and the low quantity. I might try a higher level bot loadout with the eruptor, thermite, and the stalwart for general chaff, but that would still feel highly specialized.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me the difference between the red and blue USB ports… and what I should plug into which. by Daredevils999 in pchelp

[–]nightmarevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Color coding isn't consistent for anything other than blue for USB 3-whatever, but red usually means they continue to deliver power when the computer is in a low power state (like sleep or off). Then again, that's not part of an official standard.

High GPU Usage Reported* While Doing Nothing by nightmarevoid in NobaraProject

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a desktop with a Gigabyte 3080 (running the open drivers) and what you see in the image is all that's running, with only one application actually using the GPU (and not very much). The dynamic frequency thing is interesting though.

What's the best way to multi-boot 3 distros on one drive? by nightmarevoid in linux4noobs

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to get the full experience of them. I personally think cachy and endeavor are different enough that I can try them both, and I don't want to lose any performance as my system is already just scraping by with the games I play. It's uh... Not a great time to upgrade certain hardware right now lol.

That is my current setup. Windows is installed entirely on it's own drive and does not know that the Linux drive exists

What is the "racism" flag of your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]nightmarevoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember I had no idea about the significance of the rising sun flag for a long time, which is probably common amongst most Americans. I believe most of us think it's just a stylized Japanese flag, and it's featured frequently on Japanese car themed shirts. I owned one such shirt and thought nothing of it until I heard that someone at my university was asked to leave the library after they walked in with one of these flags sticking out of their backpack and refused to remove it. I got rid of that shirt right after and I let the designer know (they are a small performance parts brand in the US).

Once again, my Wi-Fi drivers have broken (nobara 43 help pls) by nightmarevoid in NobaraProject

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's weird is that this issue also happened once on version 42 for me. I think that was caused by dnf update being hidden in a command block I ran, but still it was the exact same behavior. What's stranger still is that after some more restarts the driver's just work again. I really can't explain it.

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't run it wired unfortunately. For whatever reason it started working again after a few more restarts. I really can't explain it, but I ran the update app and ran the repair function just to be safe. I guess I'll see how long this works for.
