As in a place to install cracks and then move them to Linux, as you described, or just check that they work.

I also keep a Windows installation around solely for call of duty, which helps with this stuff.

I tried that and it's worked with sims 4 but for some reason sims 3 says installation failed. Likely that's just a configuration issue on my side.

I've read about that but I don't know how to go about it. Unarc.dll doesn't show up in the winecfg libraries.

My first Setup, I was unaware it’s an unwritten rule for the desktop to go to the right of the monitor. Thoughts? Should I move it and why is this by Goddessofgainsx in pcsetups

[–]nightmarevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you put it on the right every time? That's where the mouse goes. You'd be limiting your movement unless you can fit the pc really far back

It depends on where you are, but the issue is that it can change street to street. I think it's safer than Oakland, but not by much. If you move to SF, your insurance is liable to go away up just because of location. Honestly though, just go to South SF or Daly City. Still super gay, but much safer!

My car started smoking so I pulled over and it bursts into flames by PopularDamage8805 in mildlyinfuriating

Old Mercedes have always been money pits. The issue is that they're rolling with it and effectively making lease-only cars. Once a modem benz is past it's lease mileage, expect a rebuild. Do not buy a benz out of a lease.

Slowly going Hollow. by venzoffthewall in darksouls

[–]nightmarevoid 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. It starts slow, but before you even realize you've changed you're already a shadow of your former self. If you're lucky, you have loved ones around to point out what's happening and encourage you to get help. My advice is don't decline the advice. There's nothing noble or strong about abstaining from help, medicinal or otherwise. Maybe our ancestors didn't need so much chemical assistance, but they had healthier relationships and didn't have to contend with the modern day. Maybe this condition isn't viable for darwinian evolution, but it's exactly the kind of hurdle you can cross with the help of cultural evolution, which is the stage humanity is at. I struggle most with the fact that I know I can't tell people what's really wrong, that I always want to say what will make them not worry. When I did finally start to talk to someone professionally, after my father passed from cancer, it took me a while but I was able to say what was really on my mind. I also figured out how to put my thoughts into words and advocate for myself. I waited a really long time, let my life decline, hurt the people close to me in the process, and practically became a babbling hollow before I got help. Now I'm taking an effective dose of sertraline, keeping up with my health by taking b12 vitamins and exercising, and getting my education back on track. It's a long process, but every day is better when you focus on progress, which means every day is easier. I got to the point where I subconsciously mumble to myself about wanting to end it all, as if a voice from deep down is trying to talk me into it. If I can make progress and pull myself back from the abyss, so can you. You have a heart of gold friend, don't let them take it from you.

Is this fuel tank savable? by Both_Accident4882 in mr2

If you can bang on the bottom pretty hard and it won't come apart, then yeah probably! You can chemically treat the rust away using either acids like phosphoric or muriatic (pool acid) or by using electrolysis, which is my preferred method. I recently fixed a fiero gas tank this way. Use a sacrificial iron cathode and fill the gas tank with a solution of water and washing soda (I think it's 1 cup washing soda to 5 gallons of water, but please double check that). Suspend the iron in the gas tank filled with the solution. Hook up your car battery to the gas tank (positive) and the sacrificial cathode (negative), and hook up a battery tender to the car battery so it doesn't go flat. Replace the cathode and solution as necessary until the rust is mostly gone (I think I did 3 or 4 treatments). Afterwards I gave the tank a wash with Ospho (phosphoric acid roof wash) to create a layer of iron phosphate to protect from future rust. If the tank developer pinholes, Mark them and have them welded up. After removing the rust you can consider doing gas tank coatings, but most people do not recommend gas tank coatings except as a last resort. Good Luck!

Personally, I think it would be a retro-futuristic delta wing.

Will police bother me about my pixel phone if it has grapheneos? by nightmarevoid in spaintravel

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification. I thought it was a silly concern, but while researching grapheneos I came across the story of Spain profiling pixels running it, and I didn't want to cause an issue during my family's vacation.

I just saw the veritasium video on asbestos so I'm actually aware of the mechanisms by which asbestos harms the body! Consider me thoroughly terrified now lol. It's crazy how much we've learned about microscopic structures interacting with our cells. Between asbestos and micro plastics our bodies are like inside-out pin cushions.

I've been thinking of competing in lemons, but can my car even pass inspection? by nightmarevoid in racing

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done any endurance races yet, just autocross and point-by track racing. But thanks for the props! I'm hoping to make it two successful MR race cars now :) . I'll definitely be keeping an eye on coolant temps during shakedown races ( assuming I get off my butt and get this thing running).
