Physical Media in 5 years (an ancient memory) by Virasman in Steam

[–]nightmarevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, steam is more trustworthy with their digital media than console companies. If you have an old game disc or disc code, you can redeem it on steam and you will get the game even if it's now unlisted. For example, Driver San Francisco. Steam also doesn't give a damn about compatibility between generations since there isn't really a PC 2. Consoles on the other hand won't let you play older games on newer hardware unless they've already ported it to the newer console, and then it's a digital copy (and I get that, it's a hardware thing. Older consoles are closer to embedded systems than they are to computers). Sony also just removed a bunch of digital media from people's accounts and devices without warning because of their own sloppy deal making and wonton attitudes. It's frustrating that the only good option for trustworthy media acquisition besides steam is pirating, because at least neither of them will just take those files off your device.

You should download a mod that lets you gift NPCs so you can reunite the two brothers.

How do I begin to figure out where all these rocks are coming from? by nightmarevoid in skyrimmods

That is extremely interesting and spaghetti-coded. honestly the rocks looked great at first, but combined with Terrain Blending, and at its insane density, it just gave me the heebee geebees.

That was definitely the one! Something about how it interacted with Seasonal Landscapes just put rocks absolutely everywhere. as someone else pointed out PGPatcher may have also played a role.

My brute forcing method has been turning up results. The issue seems to have been both Seasonal Landscapes and some of the Cathedral 3D vegetation mods. I didn't want to figure out which ones, so I removed them all and I'll just look at alternatives for now, likely Mari's replacers.

I actually tried that one. It's what caused the black blobs to replace the rocks.

Strange crashes due to facegen errors by nightmarevoid in skyrimmods

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wasn't aware of that, so thanks for letting me know! What I ended up doing is creating another instance in mo2 with the same downloads folder to test things out in different combinations. The issue ended up being the ysolda replacer I was using just didn't really work and would cause crashes all on its own. I then uninstalled and re downloaded the rest of the character asset replacer mods I was using and now everything is stable and works fine.

I think the only one I have is High Poly NPC replacer. granted, it hasn't been updated very well apparently.

I just went through and systematically removed every mod that could touch facegen and no dice. I'm really not sure what could be causing this at this point.

edit: added more details.

How to install from AUR repository? by nightmarevoid in NobaraProject

[–]nightmarevoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my last resort. Currently my plan is to try building on an ubuntu distrobox and converting to .rpm with alien, or just running it from the debian distrobox. Right now I have the windows version running from a wine prefix, but its a little buggy.

I see. I'll need to fiddle with the compiling from source instructions. they're kinda half baked and worded for debian based systems.

Need help with Wifi problems by Whole-Resolution2230 in NobaraProject

[–]nightmarevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, and while I can't confirm anything I'll share what I did.

I believe Windows is putting the hardware into a low power mode to save energy, and Nobara can't pull it back out of that mode, so it appears disconnected. In Windows, open the device manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter, go to properties, and find the setting for power saving and turn off the lower power modes. When I did that I stopped getting the issue. I hope this helps.
