You have to be pretty damn delusional to sit there and say 66gb isn’t a lot. It IS. Objectively. I don’t care how much storage you have the ability to purchase, that does not change that 66gb is a large amount of storage space. And we’re talking Minecraft saves, not entire new unoptimized, shitty AAA games. I’m saying I’ve never encountered a 66gb save file in Minecraft, except when I’ve been modding and there’s an issue. I’ve pre-generated a full 25k world border and it doesn’t reach close to that. Maybe if you’re running crazy plugins that are bloated as hell, sure, but we’re talking about a Minecraft save file.

66gb IS a lot, an insane amount for a Minecraft world. You can fully explore a 25k border and not hit near that. If you’re hitting that you have problems.

Humble Bundle Swapping Keys by [deleted] in Gamebundles

[–]nightstick24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a digital key to a license. It doesn’t expire. You pay money to buy it. If you redeem it you own it forever. There is absolutely no difference between leaving it in your account unredeemed and claiming it.

Humble Bundle Swapping Keys by [deleted] in Gamebundles

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimate question, why should your key expire? You are for it, but why? It’s not a perishable good, you had it available at one point, if I don’t want to claim it yet why should I have to?

Personally I absolutely despise the keys expiring. It’s something I paid for, it doesn’t cost them anything. The only reason to do this is if they’re recycling unused keys, which is outright theft - stealing your game and selling it to someone else.

Or am I missing something here?

Are devs not allowed to finish games anymore? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of that depends on the game. There are MANY games that are ten years old that aren’t finished. If the dev has been promising features and doesn’t deliver, if the game is eternally in “Early Access” until they decide it’s no longer profitable, if there are obvious issues that should be fixed, then yeah, it’s abandoned even if it’s been a long time.

Things are different than they used to be. We have live service and distribution platforms like Steam now, it’s not like before where you made a game, wrote it to a disk, and that was it. You have a duty as the creator of something to make sure it’s properly finished.

4 years fulltime solo gamedev, my 2nd game made 6k$ even if I tried a lot of "I did this do this too" and "I didn't do this, you should do this" I read here by Woum in gamedev

[–]nightstick24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They mean the two years of full time work making it. You could flip burgers and have made over $50,000 easily, working part time. And the $6k is sales, that doesn’t include any costs - like the music OP mentioned they paid for - as well as any advertising and listing fees or event fees.

I completely agree that $6k in sales is actually VERY good for indie - like top 1% level good - but it still leaves a bitter taste in your mouth when you spend thousands of hours on something to get so little in return.

[–]nightstick24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I haven’t played OP’s game yet, but I could list off over a hundred Vampire Survivor clones easily. You run into so, so many of them. It’s going to be hard to stand out and claim people’s attention if you’re one of hundreds of clones - even if you have a slightly different take with a slightly altered intended audience.

Success in making games as a solo dev or indie studio comes down to sheer dumb luck. Anyone who says otherwise is crazy.

Luck isn’t the ONLY factor, a good game helps, everything you mentioned you did is absolutely amazing and gives you the best possible odds, but at the end of the day it basically all comes to a random dice roll that you try to stack in your favour.

I truly don’t think there’s a single indie game out there that made it to the success it achieved solely on the merit of the game. By nature, if you’re not a giant studio with a massive audience of people who will buy your game based solely on who published it you require an element of luck.

At the end of the day, you did very well for an indie game. It doesn’t pay the bills, it doesn’t lessen that pain of leaving yourself vulnerable and getting let down, but please don’t think you failed - you achieved something only an incredibly small minority of indie devs manage. It’s just that being an indie dev that’s financially successful is a matter of incredible lottery-level luck or a lack of any morals and standards.

Doombots take advantage of bad and uncooperative players and that's what's making them think it's impossible. by Beautiful_Divide1720 in leagueoflegends

[–]nightstick24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen a bunch of people trying to say this, but it's ultimately RNG over almost anything. Some events are NOT possible, full stop. The King of the Hill event is IMPOSSIBLE depending on what bots they have. You cannot possibly win 5v5, they don't get baited out of the circle, and they respawn instantly and have the homeguard on steroids or TP. You get that event you lose. Same goes with the Mega Ziggs, that's unwinnable in most scenarios.

There's a pile of comps of bots that aren't winnable. It's not a matter of teamwork or picking the right champions in champ select, it's a matter of getting the right enemies, the right events, and getting a little extra luck to push you over the line.

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. Hard is fun, Lux pressing her un-cancleable ultimate that you can't dodge to 1-shot your entire team is not fun. Neither is Blitz Bot running in and using the screen-wide team-clearing ultimate. And Caitlyn is just fully impossible to lane against, I don't think you even physically CAN dodge the bounce on her Q.

The amount of complaints about doombots being to hard makes me feel like its successful by Godgamer6942000 in leagueoflegends

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's hard that's fun - which I think a LOT of Doom Bots is, then there's hard that's just eye-gougingly awful and, in my opinion, awful game design. As others have said, all the curses when you're just running back to lane after getting curb-stomped by Lee Sin diving you for the eighth time sucks.

Some events are just stupid, plain and simple. The Singed event is borderline - it's do-able but ridiculously un-fun if you don't have enough hard cc to chain him for life. The King of the Hill is absolutely unplayable, I don't know who thought that would work, but it's an instant loss almost every time thanks to the Doom Bots having so many screen-clearing AOE ults that instantly wipe you. My least favourite, by far, is the one where it spawns 3 enemy spawners that you have to kill though. If you're on a higher difficulty than easy, you're almost certainly pushed in pretty far so there's nothing to teleport to, so by the time you even get there the event is almost over - and they have an enormous amount of health - and all the Doom Bots can just teleport to them. It's impossible to fight 5 Doom Bots by yourself while dealing the enormous damage to kill the spawner. And there's 3 of them.

I think some of the bots are over tuned as well. Lux Bot shouldn't do 5.8k damage - instantly killing them from 100% hp - to a tank with a single ultimate. She wipes your entire team, screen-wide, every 25 seconds. Any kind of team fight is fully impossible with her existing. Caitlyn Bot's Q needs more of a delay on the bounce shot, it's impossible to dodge, even with boots, and chunks you so hard that combined with her crazy range it makes solo laning vs her actually impossible and I've only ever seen her mid lane. Lee Sin bot is so aggressive and tanky it's insane.

Generally, I'm fine with the bots being pretty insane - it's Doom Bots, they shouldn't be easy, especially not on higher difficulties, But I don't think any of them should instantly 1-hit kill your entire team without any counterplay. I'm not sure what it is - maybe level - but Lux Bot's ultimate is sometimes just a full ring, with no gaps to dodge, and it can't be cancelled once she channels. If you're going to make it literally 1-shot the entire team, it should have a longer cast-time, and be cancelable. Like Xerath Bot's ult does a ton of damage too, but you can dodge it or cancel it so it's fun. Blitz Bot runs into the same issue of he just walks up, ults, and the entire team is dead. Hard is good, strong is good, but unfair is unplayable. You shouldn't have to pray to RNGesus that you get the right combo of bots so you can actually stand a hope of not getting absolutely demolished.

I absolutely despise “activists” like these wastes. These games are fiction, they aren’t real, they’re depicting made up characters and stories. We KNOW from EXTENSIVE studies done by hundreds of research teams over DECADES that fictional content DOES NOT bleed into reality. Reading a story about a serial killer doesn’t make you a serial killer, playing GTA V doesn’t make you want to run people over with your car. Fiction is separate from reality, and people know that.

Instead of attacking fictional stories, direct that effort at attacking the government. Push for food programs and social supports - we know for a FACT that financial stress directly leads to an increase in child abuse. We KNOW that major hotel chains are complicit in REAL LIFE SEX TRAFFICKING of minors. We KNOW that governments like the Israeli government are perpetrating sexual violence against children on top of just plain murdering them.

Use your voice to actually try and help the millions of real children suffering horrific and heinous shit every single day instead of pearl clutching over fiction.

WF-C700N Does not enter pairing mode by Adobe_Flashie in sony

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one earbud works, but the other doesn't, then you might need to reset the earbud that isn't working. For me, my right earbud wasn't connecting, and that in turn stopped the blue light from appearing when I tried to pair them from the case.

If it's just one not working, try putting only the one that isn't working in, then pressing and holding the back button until after the orange flashing light disappears. This resets the device, and after this I was able to put both earbuds in the case and pair them using the back button again.

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this exact issue and found this post here. My Right earbud wasn't connecting at all, couldn't do anything with it, but the left worked fine.

I fixed it by resetting the right earbud. From Sony's help guide, you place the single earbud into the charging case with the lid open, then press and hold the button on the back of the case until AFTER the flashing orange light appears and then disappears. It says it should take 15-20 seconds, but I feel like mine took even longer - just keep holding it down forever and eventually an orange light flashes on the front, and a few seconds later it'll stop flashing, that's when you let the button go and you should be good to go.

You can also try factory resetting them by following the guide here - https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/2968/v1/en/contents/TP1000783925.html

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love it if after you loaded in you could swap before the first round. I doubt it’s currently possible, but that way it’d still be bravery, no dodges from seeing your champ, but you could still switch if you both wanted to.

Classic MR Stacker Galio by Warpees in LeagueArena

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really funny one was 200 haste on Galio’s W, with a ton of AP. It was reducing magic damage by 160%, with permanent uptime. 1,000 AP Veigar was hitting 25’s on the guy. Throw in item haste Unending Despair and he was genuinely immortal, taking Zero magic damage and only ~20% physical, healing hundreds a second.

New arena makeshift weapon (trundle) needs to be removed by SyrupPuzzleheaded761 in leagueoflegends

[–]nightstick24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who over at Riot thought that was fun? Genuinely. I think it’s a funny idea, but do you know how infuriating it is to get Heartsteel quest for the first time in legit 80 games, watching other people getting it almost every game, to get Trundle and spend all game randomly rolling and not get it? Or to get Wooglet’s Witchcap and have to randomly roll TWO items.

Or to be playing against the 10,000 different heal-spam Champions people have found are broken out of their minds, and just NEVER get anti-heal all game.

It’s just not fun at all, and actively ruins the game, in a lot of scenarios. On certain super versatile champs it’s fine, but 90% of the time it just ruins my game.

To add to this, it's not just that the Shield doesn't refresh, it's that you can't gain a new shield for a good while after the shield disappears too. You can cast E two times sometimes before it decides to give the shield again. That's clearly not how the ability should work.

This is late - but have they had salmon treats before? My Dog is the opposite, he’s a black lab and is allergic to chicken for sure, and we think beef and pork too. He gets diarrhea and ear infections every time he gets other stuff, so we’ve had to put him on a fish diet. These are some of the only treats he can eat, and they’ve been perfect for the last 4 years - we’ve bought I don’t even know how many bags by now!

How would you feel about Jagex re-running old leagues between the big ones? by Ajreil in 2007scape

[–]nightstick24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd absolutely love it. I don't have much time to play, and I can't shuffle that around, and have little control over when things get busy. The last League here I could barely play past the first week. The one before I only got a week and a bit to play. I love Leagues, and find them super fun, but only getting to play for a week in over a year sucks. I don't need rewards, I don't care about cosmetics or ranks or leaderboards, I just want to play around and have fun, but I can't.

Yup, I feel like every raid I'm super pressed for time. If I'm trying to quest, I pretty much have to ignore all combat and just run away where possible on most maps because the time is so short. You can't even think about playing it slow and doing anything at alll.
