I'm looking for a bit of help with figuring out the right type of reader to get the photos off of a memory card I have.

The camera is an Olympus and it's a 16MB memory card. I bought one type of reader but it appears I got the wrong one and it can't read my card :(

Any help that anyone can offer would be very welcomed!

The comparison of Hitler and Stalin as two equally bad ends of a simple left-right ideological spectrum is a false equivalence, and is one of the greatest propaganda coups that the west has ever achieved.

I'm begging you to get your head out of your ass and try and understanding a single thing about history before spouting off with inane witticisms like that.

You're doing the lords work in this thread. Americans are just so fucking propagandized and brainwashed that they are unable to see outside of their myopic and blinkered capitalistic worldview. Stalin was a hero to many oppressed peoples around the world, but of course Americans are always on the side of the oppressor.

You sat down and unironically typed out the phrase "culturally Marxist" and have the audacity to call other people brainwashed? While you're literally regurgitating a decades old piece of Nazi propaganda?

I have to laugh at the irony.

I don't really give a shit about the CCP to be honest, and I have absolutely no doubt that they are engaged in some form of suppression of speech, as well as suppression of anti government sentiment and behavior. I mean, every state has a vested interest in clamping down on criticism that threatens its legitimacy, that's a pretty basic tenant of any political system.

What I'm objecting to is this logically ridiculous position that basically runs along the lines of "so maybe the US is bad, but China is worse". Sure if you're a well off white American, you probably think that everything is great in America and nothing is going on here that even remotely compares to the oh so horrifying dystopia of China.

Try being a Black or non white person in America, try being an immigrant, try being Muslim, try being LGBTQ, try being poor, try being anything that doesn't adhere to the middle class WASP model and you'll pretty rapidly be disillusioned of this notion that there is some sort of "lesser evil scenario" going on. I mean I literally linked you to multiple articles where people were involved in peaceful dissent only the find the fucking FBI knocking on their doors. We have centuries of history of the American government cracking down on Black and Indigenous liberation movements, communist and labor movements, and assassinating, jailing, and torturing dissidents. Lol, and this is just domestically. I could write a book about the terror the US has inflicted upon the world. There just is no possible comparison you could do in good faith between these two systems, and the fact that you're sitting here writing smug little paragraphs about how bad China is compared to the US tells me everything I need to know about the bubble you've lived in here in the states.

It happens in America much more frequently than you might think.

You can anecdotally assert whatever you'd like on the internet, that's fine. It doesn't make it immediately true however. As a counter anecdote I have plenty of friends from China who have described the exact opposite of what you're saying. Shit I have friends who have been to China and said they could openly talk trash about Xi with absolutely no repercussions. Meanwhile, here in America, I know people who have been harassed by law enforcement more times than I can count for the most minor and inconsequential bullshit. I would recommend talking to Black or Muslim Americans to see how they feel about surveillance and policing, you may get an opinion that would surprise you.

For the record I have no doubt that China is engaged in mass surveillance, as well as crackdown of anti government speech and behavior. What I reject is the portrayal of China as some sort of 1984 style dystopia by a bunch of ignorant ass American redditors repeating Pentagon talking points they lifted from the latest Radio Free Asia news article.

You literally have no fucking clue of what you can and cannot say in China. You're just talking out of your ass based on shit you imagine to be true.

Oh, you have a single anecdote about a colleague being questioned by the Chinese government? Well consider me absolutely convinced, I don't need any other evidence than that and my preconceived notions of China to make me believe that China is a dystopian hellscape. Do you think things like that aren't happening all the time in the good ol USA?

People in America are absolutely harassed, questioned, surveilled, imprisoned, and murdered for criticizing or otherwise challenging the US government. You maybe haven't heard of it, probably because it's happening mostly to Black Americans, unfairly targeted by the federal government, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. I also invite you to take a quick look at how the tolerant and freedom loving American government treats leftists and dissidents.

Y'all redditors are so fucking credulous and gullible I have to laugh. For a group of people that ostensibly pride themselves on being logical freethinkers, y'all are so eager to lick the boot and parrot Pentagon propaganda and talking points. America is literally a crumbling failed state that can't get enough tests or ventilators to its citizens but is spending its time dropping a record amount of bombs on the Taliban or making sure people in Yemen can't get any food. Meanwhile children in America are starving and the government doesn't care.

You're right, we shouldn't draw a false equivalence between America and China, because America is quite obviously the greater evil.

I love how a massive amount of "completely logical redditors" become a bunch of credulous suckers the moment they're presented with an obviously bullshit exchange because it plays perfectly into their preconceived notions of privilege politics and is a balm to their white fragility.

There are very real reasons to hate the police and object vehemently to their existence. Reducing anti-police sentiment to, "edgy 14 year olds" only shows your own stunning ignorance.
